11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Hearts Patchwork T-Shirt on: January 29, 2009 03:51:54 PM
I made these cute little patched hearts out of random fabrics, ribbon & lace. Decided to sew them onto a plain white t-shirt, thought it would be cute for February! -(and otherwise since I simply <3 Patchwork.)

12  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Fairy Tale Baby Quilt on: January 18, 2009 04:18:23 PM
I made this for my childhood BFF Hanna Banana's first baby. Baby is due in May and they don't know what sex it is yet so I made this to suit either scenario; although I get the vibe it's going to be a boy  Wink

I used this adorable fairy tale fabric with characters from random stories, along with some flowered calicos I had stocked up on years ago. 5 inch squares:

and here's Hanna Banana with her gift:
13  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Wild Baby Quilt on: November 28, 2008 11:08:48 AM
I got this amazing Noah's Ark fabric that reminded me of Lisa Frank. I used some of it for a baby quilt/xmas gift for my cousins newborn. I combined that, some paisley and hydrangea fabric that I had, and some purple & teal stuff that was my late Grandmother's. I thought it would be nice to tell her when she's older it was from the both of us..

16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Hooded dress on: October 06, 2008 05:18:49 PM
So my dear Gramma passed away last summer, and left me a ton of random vintage fabrics. I've been wanting to make something with this candy striped acetate/nylon fabric for a while, and decided to make a dress. I started it yesterday and finished it today, didn't use a pattern for the dress but did use one from Burda (3197C Lydia Hoodie) for the hood. I had to rip out a few seams and rethink a couple of steps, but in the end am pretty satisfied with the results. I lined it with the same fabric. No zipper. I hope Gramms would like it!

Do you think it looks too plain? Ie, does it need a belt, or maybe a hoodie style pocket in the front? -Or just leave it?

I finished it just in time to wear to MSTRKRFT tonight  Grin
17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Pillowcase Dress on: October 01, 2008 05:23:31 PM
I bought a mustard colored pillowcase at Savers the other day. -It's an extra long one. So, I turned it vertical, cut out a boat scoop for the neck, and two arm holes. Added a vintage cinch belt and VOILA:

It was so quick and easy! -I definitely plan on making a lot more of these. If you decide to make one, do share it! I want to see Cheesy
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / DIY Hood tutorial on: September 24, 2008 01:24:22 PM
I am in the midst of making a dress and would like to add a hood as a finishing touch. I haven't made a hood before, and was wondering what types of pointers I should be aware of? Does anyone have an easy to follow tutorial they find useful, to share? I am working with some old fabric from my grandma, and don't really have room to spare any via trial/error, I need to get it perfect (or as close to perfect as I possibly can) the first time around. Thanks Craftster!
19  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Uruku pigment tunic on: September 23, 2008 05:36:34 PM
I had the honor of working with a shaman from the Yawanawa tribe of the Brazilian Rain forest. The Yawanawa use pigment from the Uruku plant to paint their faces; he painted mine on stage at the Aveda Congress show! It was amazing to say the least, and I pressed my face onto a white t-shirt after the show since the pigment is permanent on fabric. I had someone help me, and pressed my face once in the center, and one half of my face on each side. One of the stylists gave me the shirt, so it was originally a M/L Male T-shirt. After letting the pigment dry for a week, I took the sides in a few inches, trimmed the collar off, and cut some butterfly winged style sleeves. And here I have my very own (priceless) Yawanawa inspired tunic!

It's simple, but I love it. I hope you dig it!
20  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Autumn Thank You Cards on: September 22, 2008 07:24:45 PM
I made this handful of cards to send to stylists that I worked with at the Aveda Congress show! I had such an amazing time I wanted to send them individual thank-yous:
