1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re: Need advice for my first craft fair! on: November 16, 2008 08:38:03 AM
Hi! I had my first craft fair experience this weekend. The major thing I took away was to talk to everyone...which is definitely not me! Smiley So, I did the next best thing...I had my daughter come help me out. She is very outgoing and can talk to anyone. She drew me in to several conversations and together we did very well!

Also, identify your "hot spot" and keep it filled. Move things around and make sure your set up is pleasing to the eye. My hot spot was on a shelf that was eye level for most people. The vendor across the aisle from me had her's on the corner of her table.

Good luck and have fun with it!! Oh...and get plenty of rest the night before!! You'll be exhausted after it's all over!! Smiley

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: Great Grocery Totes on: August 15, 2008 09:09:04 AM
It's nice to know that some places are doing so much to help the environment!! I've noticed our normal grocery stores sell reusable totes...I wonder if they might follow the lead and pass some of the monetary savings on to the consumer. Even if they don't, at least they are encouraging people to be "green"...not to mention that they are encouraging crafters to make totes!! (like we need it, right?  Grin)

I just wanted to share this with all of you.

Tonight while going through the mail, I came across an ad for Sprouts. It's a fruit/veggie/organic store...I know there's plenty in AZ, just not sure about the rest of the US. They are taking a nickel off your bill for every recycled bag/reusable bag you use at the time of check out. I know a nickel isn't a lot, but every penny helps!

I've been toying with the idea of making a bunch of these for grocery shopping, but hadn't figured out how to get my hubby to use them (he usually does the shopping). He said he'd use them at Sprouts to get the discount!

So, if you shop at Sprouts, don't forget your bags!! No, I don't work for them...I'm a stay at home mom...I just thought I'd share the savings opportunity with you guys...not to mention the green aspect of it all!!  Wink

I used Pellon Craft and Home. The very first purse I made was a little Sha Sha Dream bag and I had used a lighter interfacing. I didn't think I was using the right type, so I went with my mom to Wal-Mart and found the Pellon. It was much stiffer, so I thought I was on the right track...not so sure any more!!

What interfacing did you use?  I have never heard of one that is too stiff. (I swear every time I refer to interfacing there could be some kind of underlying inuendo there Wink.)
LOL...I hear you on that one!

I love love love this!! Thank goodness my daughters are in bed...I might be able to make them one for Christmas this year without them knowing about it!!! My 13 year old wants a monster bag so bad...a monster wallet would be perfect to go with it!!

You did a great job!!!
