1  Re: Craft with a Fat Quarter Swap Gallery (SO 4/18/11) in The Swap Gallery by NiinaMaria on: April 23, 2011 12:41:46 PM
My partner Opalgryphon is the bestest! First of all, her choice of FQs to send me are just perfect.
Alexander Henry bird fabric and a green with polka dots. I already know it's going to take a while
before I bear to cut them.

Here they are:

Then the main article: A travel embroidery kit! Love it, love it, love it. It's pretty and I really
needed one. Words can't do justice to this. The fabric combinations, the clever presentation...
Oh my. Whee! And bunch of happy words go in here.

Here's the pics:

I'm very, very pleased with what I received. Opalgryphon deserves AWESOME in her feedback.

3  Sheer Blouse in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by NiinaMaria on: March 15, 2011 10:24:31 AM
LAst weekend saw something miraculous happen...I made something for myself! Woohoo! The pattern was by Burda and I added sleeves as I'm not too keen to display my bingo wings. I think the sleeves work really well with the material I chose; dark blue sheer polka dot shifong.

Hemming, ruffles and sleeves

Comments and criticism would be great. I spent 5,50 euros on materials and the pattern can be found in Burda 4/2010.

5  European Easter Egg Swap in New Swap Theme Ideas by NiinaMaria on: February 26, 2011 04:58:54 AM
I just spotted the US Easter Egg- swap and thought, CANDY! So here's my idea; everyone crafts an papier mache egg, pimps it really cool and then fills it with candy. Haven't thought about the size but I think lengthwise 20cm could be nice. Anyone interested?

Here are some pics from the interwebs for inspiration...

Then some filler inspiration...

I've thought about the requirements:
Either craft an egg and fill it with candy OR
Buy one of those ready eggs, fill it with 2 point craft and candy. How does that sound?

6  Blue Kitty in Needlework: Completed Projects by NiinaMaria on: February 20, 2011 06:22:15 AM
I made this in the Hoopla round 2. I got the inspiration from the Scandinavian Needlecraft-book. This wasn't an actual pattern from the book but an image I took from one milk jug that was used as a prop in one of the pictures. (Just googled the milk jug and it WAS by Arabia).

The colour selection before I decided to with blue hues.

In progress...

The back

Finished!

7  Ugly Yellow Director's Chair into Pretty Primary Patchwork- chair in CHALLENGE 59 ENTRIES by NiinaMaria on: February 08, 2011 09:49:33 AM
This is my second try at Craftster Challenges. I scoured every single thrift store in my area to find something that is ugly but would be something I'd use after pimping it. I found a pair of yellow director's chairs that didn't have the back fabric and the seat fabric was all sticky and manky.
The chairs were 4,50 each. Score! Then I yesterday I decided that using thrifted chair wasn't enough, I wanted thrifted fabric as well. I went to one thrift store I never been before and found turquoise woven fabric and a red floral curtain. From there I developed my pretty primaries- concept.

Most materials are thrifted. Only the polka dot and the batting were brand new, bought specifically for this project. I'm sorry about the picture quality. I took tons of pictures as I want to a tutorial for this but I just don't have the time to do it real soon.

Hope you peeps like it and if you do, please vote for me!!!
