1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / End of year Steampunk collection (Pic heavy) on: June 18, 2010 07:41:37 AM
Yesterday was my college's end of year fashion show.
I made a Steampunk collection after being inspired by the Steampunk stuff on this site!

I made all the accessories that go with the outfits too but I haven't got any close up views at the moment. I will try to get some added later.

I have really enjoyed making these clothes and I would like to continue making them.

Anyway, on with the pictures.

I give you, The Lady, The Mechanic and The Tramp....

Please let me know what you think.  Smiley
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 2nd waistcoat on: August 29, 2008 08:32:12 AM
I made a waistcoat, liked it and thought I would make another one!
This one is black and red. It looked a lil plain so I put eyelets in the back and made a fake corset style.
Looks more dressy now Cheesy

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 3rd bag on: August 29, 2008 08:10:44 AM
Hello. I made another messenger bag. This one is for a friend. My friends husband asked me to make her a bag as a surprise and said her fav colours are red and black. He said he would pay but I don't think its good enough for that so I'm just gonna give it to her as a present.

I just want to know if it looks ok to give her. I've not made anything for anyone before so not sure if she will like it.

Please tell me what you think before I give it to her.
Thank you.
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Bl**dy Sewing Maching is broken arrggh! Please help! on: August 18, 2008 02:30:54 PM
Can someone please help me? I think my sewing machine is broken. *Crys*
Here's whats happening but I'm not sure what all the parts are called so sorry if I confuse you.

Well I was sewing as normal then it jammed up like the bobbin was gonna pop out. (by the way my machine is brother XL2120) It had done that before so I checked on this site and people said to put in a new needle and to clean out the bottom bit. Well, last time that worked but this time it hasn't.
So I took the shuttle out and the bit that holds the shuttle has got like a little nick in it from where maybe a needle has hit it. The thing is I dont know if that was ment to be there! When I used the balance wheel and the needle moved round it felt like it was scraping it and if i reversed it the shuttle would move backwards and when the needle came down it would hit the top of it.
I filed down the nick and it started working for a little bit but then no matter what tension I used the underneath would be so messy! Then when I tried reversing again it jammed! I don't know what to do. Do you think I need to send it back? I only got it at xmas.

Any advice would be great!
Thanks in advance.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My second bag. on: August 08, 2008 08:13:47 AM
I made another bag! This is only the second thing I have ever made from scratch. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
I even put pleats in it. Cheesy
It also has a double layer of interfacing to make it a little bit bulkier and it had an inside pocket with popper and a phone pocket.

Gosh my mirror gets dirty quick. I'm going to clean it right now.. yes right now. Toodle pip!

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My first bag/ first thing I've sewn from scratch on: August 06, 2008 07:46:45 AM
I made a messenger bag today! It's the first thing I have ever made from scratch.
I ran into a few problems, (like sewing the handle inside out) and had to pick the stitches out which seemed to take forever! Arrgghh.
I also made it weird too 'cos I was just going to make a mock up to see how to do it but then got carried away and added lining. Instead of making the outside then doing the lining the same, I sewed each piece to the lining and turned it then sewed the bits together. It don't look too bad I suppose but next time I will try and do the lining seperately.
It has a pocket under the flap bit. I might do one inside yet but don't know if I can be bothered now lol. I also need to get a big popper to close it.
Next time I now know to sew the pockets and poppers ect to the lining so the thread don't show on the outside. But oh well it's my first time. I'm allowed mistakes lol.

The bag:

It isn't wonky. I just didn't lay it out straight.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Reconstructed shirtdress on: August 04, 2008 01:48:10 PM
Hello. Me again :-D

I bought a black shirtdress last year but it it was sooo plain  I didn't bother wearing it. Anyways, inspired by my recent embroidery I thought I would do a little something on it. (Nothing as big as the other jacket I did, that was hard work!)
Then I thought the back looked shapeless and boring so I sewed two strips of black material on it and added eyelets then threaded red ribbon through to match the colour on the front. Now I have a fake corset style shirt!
On with the pics! (Sorry I forgot to take a pic of the before.)

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Arrgh my bracelet broke on: August 01, 2008 08:11:24 AM
My elastic bracelet broke and I thought "I could repair it...but I've got too many bracelets now" So I made it into earrings instead!

They are quite long, almost to my shoulders, they look so much better as earrings me thinks!
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Embroidered butterfly (Loads of pics) on: July 31, 2008 01:45:53 PM
Hello everyone. I hope you are all keeping well!

I had a jacket someone gave me (I just love cast-offs) but it was a bit boring looking.
So I embroidered a Butterfly on the back of it using satin stitch and chain stitch. I've never really embroidered before and ran into a few problems.
Firstly I didn't know you had to put that paper backing stuff (I can't remember what it is called) in it to stop it bunching up and secondly I used metallic thread which was sooo annoying to use! The shiny part of the thread kept rolling back up itself so wouldn't pull through! I don't know if that makes sense but GGGRRR it was a pain!
Then I used a chaos stitch round the edge to make it look, err, edgier!

Please excuse the chalk lines, I need to rub them off.

Comments and  criticism  welcome.
Thanks for looking.
