This one is for my bro-in-law. I figure he doesn't read this site so he won't see it, but I know my sis-in-law does read this. (So A, if you see this, don't let him peer over your shoulder!! LOL Oh and that's the celtic knot book for your mom in the background there. At least, the case for it. )
He's an artist that's into western stuff right now, and he liked the scrapbook albums I made earlier in the year, so I searched forever for a country/western album with a neat label and just failed horribly.
I DID find a seventies disco single on white vinyl for two bucks, though, so eventually as the holiday loomed closer I gave up and scraped that label off and faked it up from there. I think "Fake it with glue" is my motto for this year's holiday gift giving, but ANYWAY...
Here's the cover.
The binding is on the "wrong" side on purpose - the intention is to make left-handed sketching easier. The paper inside is "his" brand of sketching paper, cut down to size. 100 leaves, each is 8x8.
I did find albums with good westerny cover art, so one of those became the back cover:
And another became the box that holds the completed book
I put some westerny paper on the inside of the box
The inside of the back cover has the same 'bandanna' paper that the record "label" has
Binding is coptic stitch, linen thread. In retrospect I probably didn't need to bind it "lefty" style since that type of binding flops open flat so well, but ah well. He can decide the dude on the horse is the front if he prefers it that way. It's reversible!! LOL
