1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Book Cover on: April 19, 2012 09:45:37 AM
Hello Everybody!

I am extremely proud of this project! This is a book cover I made for the Reading Swap. I had so much fun making it! The fabric has a really soft feel to it and I got to create the pattern myself which was very new to me:) On top of that, I got to experiment with the cool stitches on my sewing machine!

2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Breakfast at Tiffany's Mug Rug on: April 19, 2012 08:19:19 AM
Hello Everybody!

I've finally found these pictures and decided I wanted to post them:)
This is a mug rug (my first!) that I made for my partner in the Reading Swap. I had so much fun doing this! Each piece of fabric in the body represents a piece of the story, starting from the beginning and going all the way through to the end.

This is the embroidery I did of the main character (Sadly, this was awhile ago and I can't remember her name!)

The embroidery of my partner's favorite quote from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I couldn't find an embroidery floss color that showed up well on both the black and white fabrics and matched with the mug rug:(

Thank you everybody for looking!

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Rant: Your response when people see you quilting and say stupid things to you. on: March 28, 2012 08:38:55 PM
The two I almost always get are  :
"What are knitting?" I hand sew quilt and embroider....I don't know how to knit but I do know it look faaaarrr different from quilting... *facepalm*

and the awkward comment of "I dont have the patience for that" I never know what to say to them because I'm generally not a patient person but I find sewing to be extremely relaxing and it slows me down. So in a way, the sewing makes me patient:)

Oh, and I too have gotten my sewing taken away from me in class. I was sent to the principals office once for sewing in class. Most of my teachers didnt care, but this one did apparently lol.

I'm so glad you like it! Its ok about the liver, it did not turn out how I'd hoped lol. Thats why I included the letter :d And you didn't mention that you draw, but I figured it's always handy to have a sketchbook when you paint Smiley This was such a fun swap, I'm so glad I decided to do it!

I received an incredible package this weekend!! While opening this package I kept feeling like Amy when she got a tiara from Sheldon (Idk if anyone watches Big Bang Theory but that was my favorite moment out of all the episodes)

Here is the group shot:

To start with......

IT'S A MAG LITTLE PONY!!!!!! And she is sooo beautiful and shiny that I've bringing everywhere to show her off.

I've got my own personal RepoMan  Cheesy He hangs out next to my bed making sure I make all my payments on time!

I got an amazing compact mirror. I was so happy to see this, I've been needing one for awhile to monitor my constantly smudging makeup Cheesy

A Zydrate Gun so I can get my zydrate fix anytime I want! This is sooo cool, my boyfriend was geeking out when he saw this lol!

I'm going to get a good action shot of the jacket tonight and post it later Smiley

Thank you SO MUCH Anubisheart! These items are AMAZING and I love everything!!

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / We came as romans embroidery on: February 08, 2012 10:38:19 AM
So this year my boyfriend went off to college four years away and with my separation anxiety I had a bit of a hard time with it. So I did what most (or all) of us crafters do, I poured my feelings into crafts! I wanted to deal directly with the issue and give myself something to look at to remind me of what we're going through and that it's going to be ok. So I took a rose embroidery design from urbanthreads (I loooove this place!) and made it into a heart shape. The reason the roses are black is that we each have a fake black rose that we keep that we send "messages" and stuff to each other through when we miss each other. I know it's super lame and corny but hey, it's fun and keeps things interesting:) Next thing I decided to do was put some lyrics inside the heart, but the lyrics had to be special. We had kinda decided that "roads that don't end and views that never cease" by we came as romans was our "theme song" for the long-distance part of our relationship. Out of that song I chose "This is how we love" because it represented to me that right now, this is how our relationship and that right now we love each other enough to do the long distance thing:) Now it sits on the stand next to bed. It has defiantly helped me through!

Thank you for looking:) comments and critiques are always welcome Cheesy
