11  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Re: ruffled shrug on: May 15, 2011 06:04:57 PM
Thanks! I used the tutorial I found here: http://www.craftstylish.com/item/39771/how-to-restyle-a-t-shirt-into-a-ruffly-cardigan and she mentioned that it was a vintage bed jacket-inspired cardigan. I think I might try wearing it as such next winter!
12  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Curtain from blue jeans on: May 15, 2011 05:48:21 PM
Thanks! Yes, I saved the pockets. In fact, I put one on the curtain. Can you see it? Fourth row down, second square from the right. I also included some random seams from the original jeans in the squares.
13  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / ruffled shrug on: May 15, 2011 05:20:58 PM
I reconstructed this t-shirt into a ruffled shrug!

It could be a bed jacket, too. Does anybody wear bed jackets anymore?
14  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Curtain from blue jeans on: May 15, 2011 05:11:06 PM
I love how this turned out! I just sewed together squares of denim cut from jeans and then sewed it to an old curtain, using its tabs to re-hang.
15  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Amish costume on: May 15, 2011 04:45:29 PM
I made an Amish costume for my niece. She won 1st place for her Social Studies project at her homeschool fair!

(That's actually my daughter modeling it. She & her cousin are only a few months apart in age.)
16  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Sewing Room Decor on: May 15, 2011 04:29:02 PM
I found this neat project at http://bibbidi-bobbidi-beautiful.blogspot.com/2010/02/pb-knock-off-stretched-canvas-wall-art.html and just had to try it for my own sewing room.

I love it! I plan to make more when I can.

Wow! I haven't been on craftster in awhile and I just discovered this board. I think I'll do it! I started a blog to help motivate me to do all the neat projects I find on the internet. This will help motivate me too! Okay, I'm off to figure out what's first...

20  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Ideas? Got some an oversize skirt, a cotton dress, a girl skirt, a loose blouse on: May 16, 2010 08:51:22 PM
Don't be discouraged! Failure is just one step closer to success! And you probably learned some things in the process, eh? Don't give up!

An idea for a simple first project might be an apron or simple curtain out of a skirt. I've done both. You can take a regular pattern and lay it out on the pieces you've cut apart. You don't have to start out with learning to re-make something AND learning to create a pattern. Maybe take smaller bites.

I don't know what went wrong, I'm just trying to offer encouragement!  Wink
