11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Yellow seersucker gathered skirt on: August 07, 2008 09:42:23 AM
I found 5 yards of this lovely yellow seersucker for $2 at my church's garage sale! I have been dying for a higher waisted gathered skirt, so this is what I did with it!

It is fully lined and has a side-seam zipper.

Thanks,
loveelizabeth.
12  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Making a skirt and shirt attachable and detachable on: July 08, 2008 10:40:34 AM
At work my boss and I are trying to figure out how to make a skirt and a shirt attachable. We have thought of adding buttons to the inside of the skirt and buttonholes along the bottom of the shirt. But I think the skirt, since it is a slightly heavier fabric than the jersey shirt, will pull on the shirt, making the buttons/holes visible. We thought about lowering the buttons, but then the band of the skirt probably wouldn't lay flat.
Some stipulations--the shirt must lay underneath the skirt. I thought about putting the buttons on the inside of the shirt and doing buttonholes on the skirt, but the creative director of this little business wants the shirt to lay under the skirt.
I also considered using hooks and eyes, but that seems ineffective as they would fall off easily since kids are very mobile.
Does anyone have some fresh ideas?
Thanks
