I resisted the $1 yarn at Target today!  Normally, I'll buy anything for a dollar, but decided that I don't really need pink acrylic yarn, no matter how cheap it is.

Great idea! I'll have to dig through my pile of patterns to get ideas
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / My first 'real' project on: August 23, 2005 07:29:30 PM
I've embroidered little things here and there but only for practice, so this is my first real thing.  But I'm happy w/ the way it turned out.  And I think I'm now addicted to embroidery.

I made this for my soon-to-be sister in law as part of her shower gift

Sorry for the picture quality. I had already given it away before I realized what a crappy picture I took.

The doves are from the wedding invitations. I scanned the picture, reversed the image, then printed it and traced w/ a transfer pen.   The letters are from one of the sublime stitching kits.

Lavendar is one of her wedding colors so I did the birds in light lavender and the letters in darker lavender.

By the way, I had a hell of a time trying to find blank lace handkerchiefs, but ordered from www.embroiderthis.com a week before the shower and the shipping only took 3 days! I highly recommend them!

Very true. 30% isn't that good. Now if it were 75%, then I'd have to think about it.

I haven't bought any yarn in over a month. Not sure on the exact day but I think June?  And I'm slowly decreasing my stash.

I have big plans for when I get down to a few skeins.  Big Big Plans

I've gone from 17 pieces in my stash to 14.  So today I am awarding myself w/ a ball winder.  Because I needed an excuse to get one anyway really

I think I might upgrade myself to cotton. I haven't bought any new yarn (though I have been guilty of looking. a lot.)

I have reduced my stash by 2.  Which is something really. Well, the one ball of fun fur I threw away but damnit it counts.  I'm halfway through on the cottonease (which I've decided is only good for dish towels)

I'm doing well at using up a lot of the crappy, what the hell am I to do with this, yarn and leaving the lovely yarn for actual projects.

I have decided that I hate the color of one of my yarns (the homespun in aquarium) and will hate anything I make with it.  And it's not full skein, probably about half, so I've no idea what to do with it. I might make a drop at the local thrift store.

I'm a bit dissapointed myself.  Too many sweaters for a summer issue!  It's hard to look at sweater patterns when it's 105 degrees outside (of course, I wouldn't hope to make a sweater anyway, but still.)

though I don't know what manly summer things there could be to knit really.  Tank tops? Short shorts? probably not.

I do like the satchel. I might make that for myself.

But really nothing at all that I would make for my husband Undecided

Ok. I'm throwing it away--it's not worth the headache
