1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / want to paint these cream colored croc-skin shoes--how?? on: July 28, 2009 07:33:02 PM
i was thinking of selling these, but found this site again, and just got the idea of maybe painting them a hot, bright color, cuz i like the croc-skin print but think that id wear them more if they were a cooler color.

what kind of paint do i use?
and should i use some sort of sealer? what kind?

experienced shoe painters please help! : - )
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / how to go about starting a retro/vintage inspired room? please read? lol :-( on: July 04, 2008 06:14:41 PM
i want to redo my room and i'm thinking of a sort of modern sixties look, with interesting shapes and things but at the same time (which i feel is a little contradictory) i want a sort of vintagy, antique look as well. like intricate patterns but also with a sort of simplicity. does that make sense?

my walls are a soft, minty kind of green right now with yucky blue carpet. i want to rip up the carpet so its hard wood floors.

i'm thinking of plum colored walls. or maybe light purple for three and an accent plum wall.

my whole idea is centered around this one piece of furniture i saw in tj maxx today. an awesome zebra ottoman that you can lift up for storage inside.

but i didnt get it :- (. its a hundred. i'm thinking ill get an ottoman and just reupholster it.

the resin table in front of it is something id like to do too, but with shards of this mirror i broke a while ago.

but anyway my questions are about the furniture. i dunno what to do with the dresser and nighttable i already have they are light colored wood with a vine pattern but i dont feel like theyll fit in with the whole thing and i cant paint them cuz theyre fairly new. or maybe i can make them darker and with a cherry kind of tint. or just sell them and get some flea market furniture and paint it.

its kind of dark, sorry.

i'm just confused on how to get started and what to include. i just dunno what colors to include. i'm thinking with the plum i can include colors like dark yellow, gray, and any other sort of dulled down color. like a rustic kind of red. or even teal? i like that color.

i dunno where to start, basically. !! if you have any suggestions or any places where i could look where someone else did something similar please let me know :- )
