found this ugly purple skirt at savers:

being into the eggplant color at the time i figures i could make sommat' of it...i CAN sew but sometimes i just dont feel like it (ya know what im talkin about)

so i flipped it upside down and cut two armholes. add belt- voila!




i wore it downtown. gay boys adored it.

another in my series of pretty things that may not be that practical:





heavy gauge gold wire form the vertical pieces with a thin gauge woven in spider-web style. added iridescent clear beads of random shapes and hanging crystal beads.... i dont like the way the ends of the ties stick out. i think i will have to put beads on the ends to weigh them down...still. i love it.

its made of this amazing iridescent green/blue ive had around forever and the ruffles and bow are chiffon (purposely frayed) with little crystals *squee!* for the boning i used those cheap flexible plastic cutting boards!! genius! though next time i think i would double layer them because it bends a bit when laced really tight.

my living room walls are royal purple with accents of red and orange. I live in minneapolis and we ADORE prince here, i am absolutely OBSESSED...along with this portrait i have framed albums on the walls. its done in chalk pastel (which i've never used before! :X )

i go on weekly fashion obsessions it seems...after watching the beatles movie Help! i wanted to dress like i should be chasing the beatles through london...but modern...errr....so mething like that...




(yes, im wearing shorts!)

anywho- i found this atrocious grey-plaid-with-appliquéd-pink-lace-flowers fabric and i knew it had to be made into something like this. The middle piece (front) has a kangaroo pocket to keep hands warm! and the belt goes around your waist under the back of the cloak. so the front is kind of like a belted bib. haha. but i found that it fits best that way. No pattern. Not sure how legitimately wearable/stylish it is, but it was kinda tricky and i love  the way it turned out!

i went through a big thing about loving hoods on unexpected pieces. this one is made of shiny grey knit. its great because its thick enough that it didn't need a lining and the fabric doesn't roll or fray so i didn't bother hemming it. (i don't have a serger so working with stretch annoys me anyhow) It's all cut out of one piece of fabric, hood included. only ONE seam here, the one up the front which i sewed with elastic to give it that gathered look. I LOVE this dress, so simple, so comfy and easy to wear. i have the hood pinned to my hair so it wont fall. If anyones interested i could probably make some sort of shoddy tutorial i just kinda made it up as i went along

i made this dress this spring but im waiting for fall to better wear it.... i made it from this old vintage pattern i got off ebay. it was probably one of the easiest things ive ever made. i love the shape of it and the fit but it was kinda plain so i added the little embroidered doe and fiddleheads. i cant wait to wear it more!!
