1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Montgomery Ward Signature URR 285-Help! on: December 02, 2013 10:07:49 AM
Hi ladies!

I'm working on a gift for my friend and my old tank of a sewing machine is giving me headaches. My problem is that the stitches are small and uneven. It runs beautifully other wise. I've fiddled with the tension knob, stitch width, stitch length, bobbin tension, you name it. My folks were going to get me a new one for my birthday, but I seriously love this machine and none of the new ones are like it at all. I can post pictures later tonight of how it's sewing if you need me to, also at the controls/machine. I'm just hoping that one of you guys has had or still has this machine and knows how to fine tune it. There's a sewing machine repair the next town over, but the price is a little steep for this time of year, and I can't get it there until Saturday, though I'm not totally against taking it in if it comes to it.

Thanks.

Okay, I am leaving town on Monday morning and one of the outfits I have planned to wear is going to include a bright red tank top dress. The dress only came in white and is 100% cotton, so I thought I could just dye it. I bought the tulip brand dye, Bright Red, and followed the directions exactly. It's a fuschia color! Sadly I had to order this dress, and I won't have time to get it before I leave. Sad I've been looking at this site: http://www.dharmatrading.com/Color_amp_Dye_Chemistry/index.shtml  and it looks like if I dye over it yellow it should make it the bright red that it's supposed to be. Now, I'm really new at this (I've only dyed one thing before, and it came out fine) so I need all the help I can get :/  What do you guys suggest?
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: You've Found A Piece of Heart! on: April 10, 2013 05:31:55 PM
I based it off of a perler bead link I found on etsy and then made it into a grid in Excel. If you PM me your email I will send it to you...

Rawr! I'm at a stand still. The yarn I'm using, I'm out of, and I can't find it in stock anywhere! I'll have to order it on Thursday.

Can I ask how many rows of each colour you did on the circle blanket, your proportions look perfect.

Oh my, I'm not 100% sure. I know the red and white stripes are 5 rounds each, but I don't know about the blue. Part of me is thinking it's 10 rounds? This one is more of a lap blanket/rug size, so I would maybe suggest making your star as big as you want it to be, and then do as many rounds as it takes to line them up in the royal?

Woohoo! I actually got a start up last night! Then I lost my crochet hook :/ Sadly our Wally World is in the middle of moving to a new location so the selection sucks at the moment, but the new one opens tomorrow, so if I can't find the dumb thing by then, then I will just bite the bullet, walk into the madhouse, and get a new one lol.

I'm still on the fence, but since the Bunnyvengers would find a welcome home I'll see where I'm at with the IYP swap, and if I'm progressing nicely I will sign up Smiley

Your little felt guys are sooo cute!

Still on the fence. This is the only thing I can think of that I'd be able to make:

Well, I keep turning over different ideas in my head, and I think I'll start one today or tonight. We'll see. One of my best friends finally went into labor this morning so I've been a little distracted lol
