My sister had a baby last week, and the upcoming baby inspired me to make her some onesies! Especially when i found out that she didn't even have any newborn clothes because everyone had given her 3 month and older.

I got the stencils from Microsoft Clip Art. They're a little more detailed that this, but I opened them up in Illustrator and deleted all the extra paths and layers that weren't necessary, and brought them down to these simple designs.

The goat was probably the most difficult, being a three layer stencil, but it came out all right. I think it looked better on paper that it does on the onesie, but that maybe because it's being compared to the other four simple designs. The goat is actually a horoscope picture, and not even the baby's, but the kid's name is Billy. Get it? Billy, goat? Billy Goat?     

Today is my dad's birthday, and he's a big trumpet player. He belongs to a senior drum & bugle corp and recently joined up with the Drew Carey Band for the Seattle Sounders (the Sounders' pep band). So, for his birthday I wanted to make him a trumpet themed t-shirt, but I couldn't come up with any ideas. Because I was lacking any inspiration, I went on to Cafe Press to see what other people had come up with so I could, admittedly, steal their ideas. 

I thought this one was great and knew I had to copy it.

The shirt was hanging on a hanger, that's why there's those wrinkles. I also touched up the paint green of the green square after I took the picture.

The second one I saw I thought was fantastic. It was just the silhouette of the man playing his trumpet and at the bottom it said, "got trumpet?" I decided to make the trumpet gold and put, "pardon me if I toot my own horn" on the back.

I took the picture of the back of the shirt while I was in my car. I had it draped over my steering wheel, and the light was really bright, thus the "white" stripe down the side.

He seemed to get a kick out of them, and the rest of my family and coworkers thought they were great.

One of my bunnies passed away at the end of March of this year, a very sudden and sad thing, and I've made this shirt in remembrance. I took this photo of her and turned it into a stencil by coloring just the black parts. Then I put it on my shirt!

I also plan on putting it on a sweatshirt, but I think I'll do that later in the year.

Acrylic paint with a textile medium. I love freezer paper!

While I've been wanting to make shirts for sometime now after learning about freezer paper from tutorial here, I've only recently begun. I made this shirt a couple weeks ago for my boyfriend who is a big Portal fan. Cutting out all of the letters was a lot of work. I even saved all of the little centers of all the letters to iron down later, I had them all layed out in rows, and then I swiped them off the table with my elbow while I was cutting out the rest of the design. It was hard enough cutting them all out that I didn't want to have to find each and every little piece on the carpet, so I just painted them in later.

I think it turned out pretty well!  Unfortunately I keep forgetting to grab a picture of him wearing the shirt.

This was my second attempt at creating a stenciled shirt. Freezer paper and acrylic paint with a textile medium.

My boyfriend's grandpa turned 92 yesterday, and his daughter (my boyfriend's mother) asked me to make him this shirt. She has a shirt that says, "Oh, Crap ... I'm 60!" and recently he asked how old he was going to be, and would he be getting a shirt like that? She thought that was so funny, and cute, that she called me and asked if I would make a shirt for him that said that.

So I copied the design from her shirt (I bet you recognize it) and created a stencil in Illustrator. Rather than put it on a black shirt (by this age, it's more of a celebration than a joke that you're getting old) I put it on red and changed the color scheme a bit.

This was done with freezer paper and acrylic paints with a textile medium, my first time stenciling. But I have lots more stencils I plan to make t-shirts with! Just wait!
