141  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / International Local Attraction T -Shirt on: August 23, 2010 10:21:30 AM

Our salvation army and goodwill has soooo many local attraction T shirts that they cant get rid of. I would LOVE  to have a local attraction t shirt from another country! Plus a small crafted item. Would anyone be interested in a swap like this? It might be hard to get enough international pairs lined up, but I would sure like to try.  And a t shirt does not weigh much in terms of shipping...

144  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / lamp nearly made it to the bilge on: July 05, 2010 09:07:49 AM
Here is what my final product looks like -

And here is what I originally picked up at Goodwill -

First I ripped the dingy silk covering off the shade...

then put nautical rope on to the lamp base.  (no in-process photo for that, as I needed six hands to do it.   I didn't have six hands, so i used my feet and knees. Wink )

Then I measured and painted these six panels.

The whale may be my fave, but the anchor is always a real love of mine.

I chose M63 to put on the bouy 'cause M is my initial and 63 is my year.

The flag also represents the letter M.

and glued 'em all on, a rather Hellish process...

then added rope to the panel divisions.

In general, I think my $1.29 purchase went quite a long way... Cheesy  Ahoy!!
145  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 52 ENTRIES / I'll have some skin with that sheet, thank you... on: July 01, 2010 04:12:43 PM

So, it took me the whole month to find a sheet that even halfway interested me in terms of a pattern.  This one stood out, on June 29th in the Salvation Army, due to its border at the top, now in the hat and at the bottom of the skirt.
My daughter is modeling the 4-piece outfit here.

I had no pattern to go by, so I looked at a wrap-around skirt I had, and a bathing suit top I had.  I also had a vague memory of making a hat like this once....

And I made a cuff with a little hot-dog type roll on one side, which I neglected to get a close-up of.

skirt bottom shows pattern that normally goes at top of sheet.
Thanks for looking!  I am a real sewing novice and would love constructive criticism.

Oh, and here is the before shot of the tag, labeled FULL attached to the sheet while it is all in a heap on the floor.
146  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / do you know this flower pattern? on: June 25, 2010 01:04:11 PM

I bought this bracelet at yard sale and I adore it!  i want to make a whole bunch of 'em but have no idea how.  I am a true beginner, but i'll bet I could do it.  Does anyone have a link or a tute I could follow to make these flower bracelets?
147  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / One Tiny Pirrrrrate Thing, here be the viewin' of the loot on: June 13, 2010 07:22:21 AM

148  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / The Marlboro Summer Home (miniature thing, but pic heavy) on: June 06, 2010 11:43:15 AM
This is the second thing I have done with a cigarette box. This time I glued two together to make a townhouse. The Marlboro family prefers to stay in town for the summer where the action is, so they do their best to make their place look seasonal. They start hanging their laundry out instead of throwing it in the dryer. They let the cat out on the roof, where, the naughty thing gets up on the table, they put the woodstove to bed, and most importantly they plant their ever-popular hanging nasturtiums:

they even have a fruit tree espaliered up the side of their building.

I used a plastic piece from a business envelope to make this giant skylight. It bugs the heck out of the Marlboros in the summer because it makes the upper library and den areas absolutely cook.  One day, Mr Marlboro, who is the real sewer in the family, swears he will design giant curtains for it.

Mrs M has a good tan going from reading her morning paper on the roof with a cuppa joe.

The fire escape, thank goodness never used yet.

Just a pair of pants and a towel hanging on the line today....

Mr M has put tomatoes in a barrel out back and they are doing marvelously well, but not a single blossom. He is now ashamed to have the neighbors over.

Here is a photo commissioned by Mr M for Mrs M's Christmas present several years ago. It hangs above the fireplace.  Arial photos are costly, ya know....

Evidence.  Please don't tell Mr and Mrs M.  It might break their hearts.
Thanks for looking.
149  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 51 ENTRIES / how many points for EARRINGS on: June 02, 2010 10:21:23 AM
I see another Craftster and I think along the same lines!!  Mine is for earrings only. I make wacky ones and like to keep them separate from my other normal ones.  So this was the perfect way to do so - The only before and after pics I have are the ones before I fill it up -

and after it is loaded with my goodies -

The top row reads Megs earrings, another section says doo dadz, then there is a place (the tiile holders)for stand-up card-type earrings, and a nest or two for larger earrings,
and the right section has my snakes in it, so of course I had to spell out snake.

I used the Scrabble box itsself too.  Couldn't have done it without it. The tiles are glued on and each tile has a bead on it to hold the earring in place.
