142  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / my first-ever stuffie on: November 08, 2009 09:31:13 AM
Mr Owl is my first stuffie.  I put a weight in the bottom of him so I could use him as a pincushion. I followed a tutorial from Mel's Own Place, and had a blast.  I chose a smocked top that I never wear to cut up to become Mr Owl, hoping that the smocking in the front would resemble the ruffly feather look.  Unfortunately, being a beginner, I put the wrong side out, and the elastics are showing instead of the finished smock side, lol, but hey, the effect I wanted remains!  I was lucky to find two lovely buttons in my old collection for the eyes.

143  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Skirt tote purse with bamboo handles on: November 06, 2009 08:38:56 AM
I found a knitted bag at the thrift store, cut off the handles, and sewed on this cutie-pie little girls' skirt.  The skirt has a lining, which I sewed at the bottom so the outer layer could still flow freely like a skirt.  It cost me $2.49 to make!

144  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / International T-Shirt Swap on: September 16, 2009 03:09:32 AM
Whenever I am in GoodWill, I see all these dollar Tshirts with events or company names on them and think "oy, if they were only from another country they'd be sooooo cool."  So, why don't I find someone from another country and do a trade with them?!  And a few small crafts can accompany the Tshirt, either based on the event or company logo, or based on whatever.  But it would have to be getting something from another country - totally international.
