I just opened an herbs card from corchen..... first, when I pulled the envie from my mailbox I actually squeeeeeed.  Look at how tiny it is!  I put a penny on it for reference...

Then, a gorgeous bit of paper explaining the card.... it has plantlife embedded in it.

And finally la piece de resistance...  her first ATC! (corchen is a newbie with us).  I think she did an awesome job!

I luuuuv texts within ATCs.   It is from a poem, "Muiopotmos, or the fated of the butterflie" The spelling looks like is a very olde poem indeed!
I love the framing, the bit of herb at the top, so meticulously cut out. Thank you so much, corchen!!  I think I will display it in my kitchen.

blupaisan you're on fire! all three cards are great.  The smoking monkey card is wonderful, I love the style, you have a lot of restraint and a light touch.  Plus great drawing/painting skills.

Wow, my head is all swelled up now!  Thanks so much for the kudos!

2786  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: a foot of snow calls for a bootjack! on: January 12, 2013 06:49:00 AM
ha  ha!!  A boot jack is not used much any more, so it is no wonder folks don't know what it is....  You step on the plain end and the bit of wood underneath the jack causes the notched end to go up ... sort of like a teeter totter. Then you stick your boot heel into the notch and pull your foot out of the boot ... the notch holds your boot while your foot comes out nice and easy-like. Remove boot from notch, do same with other foot.  Saves back-bending and tugging. A real time saver, too. I have made them with kids before in an after-school projects group and they LOVED learning to use the saw and hammer. They got to paint theirs in wild colors.
Thanks for the comment....

2788  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap Discussion Thread for 2013! on: January 08, 2013 07:05:11 PM
So I decided to try a new craft this year and it's ATCs!  I've only done one in the past but I decided it would be fun to do more and to collect some from you all.  I'll put my best in to what I make so don't be worried if this ATC newbie claims you!

Hurrah for you, and welcome!!

I sure hit the jackpot today!!  I got three awesome cards

First, from La Chapa

Is that gorgeous or what? It is for my honeybees theme. On Thanksgiving day, we had a honeybee in our house... heaven knows where it came from! We are in upstate NY so it was out of season. It looked very troubled so we brought it outside and fed it some honey. It seemed to recover after eating and flew off.
I really love this card!!

Also from La Chapa on my fennec fox theme

a stunning piece of art. Both cards done with chalk and pastel pencil.
Thank you so much, La Chapa.

Next, on my moveable theme, from pilarfarmer, it looks like an ordinary partly cloudy day...

but you move the thingamabobbie at the bottom,

and slowly, a butterfly begins to emerge from behind the cloud...

Thank you so much, pilarfarmer. I truly love it. You have inspired me to experiment with moveables myself. I am nervous, but must try it!
