2334  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 52 ENTRIES / I'll have some skin with that sheet, thank you... on: July 01, 2010 04:12:43 PM

So, it took me the whole month to find a sheet that even halfway interested me in terms of a pattern.  This one stood out, on June 29th in the Salvation Army, due to its border at the top, now in the hat and at the bottom of the skirt.
My daughter is modeling the 4-piece outfit here.

I had no pattern to go by, so I looked at a wrap-around skirt I had, and a bathing suit top I had.  I also had a vague memory of making a hat like this once....

And I made a cuff with a little hot-dog type roll on one side, which I neglected to get a close-up of.

skirt bottom shows pattern that normally goes at top of sheet.
Thanks for looking!  I am a real sewing novice and would love constructive criticism.

Oh, and here is the before shot of the tag, labeled FULL attached to the sheet while it is all in a heap on the floor.

I just realized that today was the first posting day, so I sat down at my computer to look, and my computer was being slow, and not displaying pictures, and I blurted out, "c'mon, show me shome sheetsh!!" which indicates how excited i was that i couldn't even talk right.

finally found a sheet yesterday worthy of using.  I figured I was such a rank beginner seamstress, that I needed a truly wonderful print to help me along. I never did find that truly wonderful print, but I found something relatively interesting that inspired me to design an outfit.  I started today and I am realizing what a beginner i am!!  this stuff is WORK!!  but I sure hope it will be wearable enuf for me to show it off in the end.

some trees from efirechild. I think the pink beads are precious and resemble cherries. and too bad it is fuzzy, but can you see the one that looks like a book emerging from the tree trunk?  cool!
