561  Re: Run Away With the Circus Gallery in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: August 05, 2010 08:55:12 AM
Oh, I got the coolest package from Dustyfro!!  I am wearing two of the things as I type away here...
First, my alltime fave, my fingerless gloves!!  AAAAk I love these things so much.

next up is what i  consider to be the cleverest thing I have seen on this site. Juggling earrings!!  Look at the balls fly and the loops they make!  Is this cool or what?

Then come the other wonderfulies -
An etched unicycle glass (I really want to learn this craft. Can you tell me more about it, Dustyfro?)

A very peppy salt shaker filled with the yummiest salt combo, plus the recipe

My new juggling sacs with bag

and spoke decorations for my uni

I am pretty much overwhelmed.  I am so glad Dustyfro was my partner.  Thank you for all the great stuff and good luck in your big move!!

Here is my loot from Aidenromantic! I have a new bookmark,  which I really needed and I love the quote on it. I was recently discussing the very notion of art with somebody and this really sums up what we were trying to get at! I love it! Aren't the heart cards cute? And some homemade envies, and a cool ATC, some adorable stamplike pictures (bike n doggie is my fave) and another great quote on a paint sample - A house is made of walls and beams, a home is built with love and dreams.
thank you very much Aidenromantic!  It was really fun to open it all.

566  Re: June 2010 Birthday Swap - Discussion and Gallery in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: July 18, 2010 10:54:08 AM

This is my fave pair of earrings I got from Kartiana.  It was hard to pick a favorite, because this next pair makes me very very happy, too-

(sorry about all the cat hair in the background ... that's what happens when you live with 11 kitties.)
She also made these inchie-like ones my fave being this -

arent they cool?
more -

i love the green on that one, it does not show up well at all in the photo.

they are all soooo me.  thank you very much, Kartiana!!

I just had to begin the post with this picture!  I am wearing my favorite earrings from MICHELEIGH34, flies!  (I have flypaper earrings and worm earrings and snake earrings.  These are so perfect for me - I love 'em!!)
Other wonderful odd earrings she made for me:

gorgeous moon and stars, monkey and lion erasers (!), cool dangles, and the funniest Simpson portraits.
Plus, she made two more things for me

a pile of reusable squares so i don't have to buy paper towels anymore,
a pirate shopping bag (did she know I was running the OTPT swap?)
Look at the innards and outards -

it is lined with a Hot Topic plastic bag so's it wont matter so much when I spill the rum...
and the handles come off with velcro for when my rum casket is so big it would not have otherwise fit in the bag.
THank you very very very much, MICHELEIGH34!  What a nice treasure package to open today.

568  Re: June 2010 Birthday Swap - Discussion and Gallery in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: July 06, 2010 11:32:28 AM
wow, did I hit the jackpot.  My first post here will be my pressies from Feast Your Eyes.
Because she spent so much time making my giftie, she was a wee bit late, which caused her to put in some extri extries which I will show off first -

a very sophisticated bead owl pendant. I have named him Timikin, because beneath his sophistication he is absolutely adorable!!
Next up, a pair of very funny earrings, 'cause she knows I wear wacky ones...

How will I ever forget to brush from now on?!
Now, la piece de resistance!!!  A gorgeous cuff beaded bracelet which has me sooo over the moon.

So, am I lucky or what?!
There is tons of turquoise in this, which is my fave color. My eyes just SWIM over the thing and smile.
Here is the back and how it fastens-

*sigh* I really love this gift.  Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, your talents, your long, hard work, Feast Your Eyes!!  you really made my day.

569  lamp nearly made it to the bilge in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by blupaisan on: July 05, 2010 09:07:49 AM
Here is what my final product looks like -

And here is what I originally picked up at Goodwill -

First I ripped the dingy silk covering off the shade...

then put nautical rope on to the lamp base.  (no in-process photo for that, as I needed six hands to do it.   I didn't have six hands, so i used my feet and knees. Wink )

Then I measured and painted these six panels.

The whale may be my fave, but the anchor is always a real love of mine.

I chose M63 to put on the bouy 'cause M is my initial and 63 is my year.

The flag also represents the letter M.

and glued 'em all on, a rather Hellish process...

then added rope to the panel divisions.

In general, I think my $1.29 purchase went quite a long way... Cheesy  Ahoy!!

570  I'll have some skin with that sheet, thank you... in CHALLENGE 52 ENTRIES by blupaisan on: July 01, 2010 04:12:43 PM

So, it took me the whole month to find a sheet that even halfway interested me in terms of a pattern.  This one stood out, on June 29th in the Salvation Army, due to its border at the top, now in the hat and at the bottom of the skirt.
My daughter is modeling the 4-piece outfit here.

I had no pattern to go by, so I looked at a wrap-around skirt I had, and a bathing suit top I had.  I also had a vague memory of making a hat like this once....

And I made a cuff with a little hot-dog type roll on one side, which I neglected to get a close-up of.

skirt bottom shows pattern that normally goes at top of sheet.
Thanks for looking!  I am a real sewing novice and would love constructive criticism.

Oh, and here is the before shot of the tag, labeled FULL attached to the sheet while it is all in a heap on the floor.
