331  Re: Personal/Private Swap Gallery, 2013 in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: January 27, 2013 09:55:52 AM
Kitty Herman and I did a personal swap - one 4x6 and 6 ATCs.  What a haul I got..... this is one talented artist!!  Every time I looked at the next piece, I was floored.
Here is the 4x6

It is the view she has each morning as her cat wakes her up to ask for breakfast. Such an unusual look - so very creative.  Charcoal.

On to the incredible ATCs

for my request for mushrooms. Kitty claims she is new at watercolors.  Sooooo hard to believe. This is a stunning piece of work in the medium.

for my pet rat theme.  I have had 3 awesome pet rats in my life. Kitty has also experienced the joy of loving pet rats. So good to hear when someone else understands that they are clean, loving, and clever, not the nasty creatures many folks make them out to be.  I love this card. He is adorable.

For my "birth year" theme.... (1963). The Beatles were big. Here is a very very funny pencil depiction of the madness....   Ya gotta luv the Ringo fan....!

I had both daisies and ladybugs on my list. Here is a sweet combo of them. Makes me all happy inside just to look at it.

For my red fox theme. They are such gorgeous creatures. I cry when I see them dead in the road. Here is one titled "Alone but not lonely".  He is being kept silent company by a couple of chummy shrooms.

Lastly, on my ivy theme...

Yes, the leaves are real and somehow Kitty managed to treat them so they would arrive looking like they had just been picked. Some very cool background on this card, too.

Kitty Herman, you are THE BOMB. I couldn't possibly be happier with every single piece you made for me. Obviously you worked very very hard to cater to my wishes.  I would trade with you again in a heartbeat.
hugs,
blupaisan

332  Gabe just crossed the Rainbow Bridge in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by blupaisan on: January 27, 2013 02:14:37 AM

Two and a half hours ago, I awoke in the middle of the night. For no apparent reason. I told my husband that I was unusually wide awake and if I could not get back to sleep in 10 minutes, I would get up and do some things.  Within 5 minutes I was up. The first thing I do when I get up or come home is look for my cat Gabe, who has been "on his way out" for several months now, just to be sure he is ok.
He was nowhere to be found. I woke my husband up and we looked together. We found him wedged in a tiny nook in the kitchen where he had gone to die. He was still warm. I am convinced he woke me up somehow to retrieve him and say goodbye.
I will miss this cat like no other. He was amazing.  I even wrote a children's novel based on him.
My husband, after drying my tears, went back to bed. I needed some art therapy so did this ATC of my beloved.
I will always love you, Gaberlin.

Got four, count 'em, four (!) goodies in the mail yesterday.  Here they are...

From Opalgryphon my gorgeous Luna Moth...

the details of this card are so impressive. Every square inch is covered in beauty. The subtle yellows under the lime green of the wings shows how long she worked on this piece. I just luuuuv it.  Thank you so much, Opalgryphon!!

(Couldn't resist throwing these 2 pics in.... my daughter made all her own Halloween costumes from the age of 4. Here she is dressed as a Luna Moth and here she is years later holding one that came to visit our house...)

Next, from kwality570, none other than "Larry", a moveable piece. You can make his wee monster arm wave at ya!  so much fun and wonderful colors. Thank you, kwality570!

then I have on my cats theme from mountainsandclouds, her two own kitties, Rupert and Monkey.

I am just itching to pet these two.... they are looking at me like they expect it. Cats, cats, ah, cats, I am obsessed so of course I adore this card.
Then included (was this really for me, or did you mistakenly pop it into the wrong envie...?)
A moveable Ballerina.

You can put her in ALL sorts of poses. She is soooo cool. I hope it's for me.... cuz I would be reluctant to return her, hee hee.
Thank you, mountainsandclouds!

Thank you everyone for hard thoughtful work, for incredible talent and for helping my collection grow.  love 'em all!!

I came home from a weekend away and discovered goodies in my mailbox!  Goodies galore!

First, from jillybeans, two cards...
One on my cats theme

Gosh, I love this card. I have always thought I should be a kitty (in a loving household of course...) and want to strike this pose.  This orange one reminds me of my dearly departed Woody, my best cat friend evar!  I love the way there is white space around the kitty. It's like an aura of peace.

next, for my favorite childhood stuffed animal, I present jillybeans's BunBun.

She says bunbun is now way more worn out than this pic shows.... typical use of a beloved stuffed animal. I think it is hillarious how as kids we come up with oh-so clever names, ahem, for our creatures!  Great job on bunbun!!

Next, a funny snowman from javaannie. I love the quote, and ya just know when that birdie flies away, he will have left a gift for the snowman to wear til he melts...

Then from Robinpich, on my doorways theme...

I think the technique on this is ubercool!  She calls it packing tape transfer. Allows you to do multiple stripey colors. Really neat. The doorway is very inviting...
I apologize for the pic. Do you have a better one?  Do not know why this one was fuzzy. I tried lots of times.

Lastly, on my Scotland theme from fancybutch

I love words that run two ways if you know what I mean. And the outline of the piper made me soooo nostalgic for the auld place.

Thank you sooo much, crafters, for your wonderful work. I love every one of em!!

335  Pro-house-mouse card! in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by blupaisan on: January 21, 2013 01:31:09 PM
So, I just came back from a ski weekend.... cabin in the woods. Mice abound in the kitchen. They have a gizmo that makes noise that is supposed to keep them away, but instead we find mouse droppings on counters, in pots and pans, in cuttlery, all over every clean tea towel. Everyone is ticked off about it, but personally I think we can learn to share the cabin. So I made this card and hung it up above the stove for all future renters to consider...

The droppings glued to the bottom are real...
The outside is birch bark that I pulled off a dead tree.

The inside is watercolor and pen and ink.

This is the wonderful Herbs card that cabaute made for me. I love it! She says she is more of a beginner for art, but she did an awesome job in my opinion. These are 2 of my fave herbs.
Love the tiny leaves on the left one...
thanks so much, cabaute!!

337  4 vintage image winter fun cards with quotes in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by blupaisan on: January 13, 2013 04:25:30 PM
I just noticed on the website that I go to in order to give away and find free stuff, that there are quite a few ATCs up for bid and they are going at a good 'price.'  So I made these to put on the site...

Thanks for looking. Sure were fun to make!

338  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap -- December 2012 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: January 13, 2013 10:30:18 AM
I am posting what Dread Lady got from me awhile back. It is on her things with mustaches theme.  I actually saw one of these for real pulling into our camping spot at a folk music festival!

I only just now noticed that the grill looks sorta like teeth under the mustache!  Didn't even mean that to happen, ha ha.

I just opened an herbs card from corchen..... first, when I pulled the envie from my mailbox I actually squeeeeeed.  Look at how tiny it is!  I put a penny on it for reference...

Then, a gorgeous bit of paper explaining the card.... it has plantlife embedded in it.

And finally la piece de resistance...  her first ATC! (corchen is a newbie with us).  I think she did an awesome job!

I luuuuv texts within ATCs.   It is from a poem, "Muiopotmos, or the fated of the butterflie" The spelling looks like is a very olde poem indeed!
I love the framing, the bit of herb at the top, so meticulously cut out. Thank you so much, corchen!!  I think I will display it in my kitchen.

I sure hit the jackpot today!!  I got three awesome cards

First, from La Chapa

Is that gorgeous or what? It is for my honeybees theme. On Thanksgiving day, we had a honeybee in our house... heaven knows where it came from! We are in upstate NY so it was out of season. It looked very troubled so we brought it outside and fed it some honey. It seemed to recover after eating and flew off.
I really love this card!!

Also from La Chapa on my fennec fox theme

a stunning piece of art. Both cards done with chalk and pastel pencil.
Thank you so much, La Chapa.

Next, on my moveable theme, from pilarfarmer, it looks like an ordinary partly cloudy day...

but you move the thingamabobbie at the bottom,

and slowly, a butterfly begins to emerge from behind the cloud...

Thank you so much, pilarfarmer. I truly love it. You have inspired me to experiment with moveables myself. I am nervous, but must try it!
