22  Re: Fridge Magnet Swap Rd 2 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: April 06, 2016 06:20:49 AM
PromisedHeartbrk made these for me...
first I will show the purchased one, which I requested not be a souvenir type one, but something more kitschy from the thrift shop. Just my style!!

I even like the chipped n distressed quality of it!!!!
On to the ones she made, fave first....

I spend most of my free hours growing veggies out back in the summer. This is so spot on!
next, she took a racoon and redid it to chipmunk, my fave critter

I looooove the tongue-in-cheek sign talking about being cautious about such an adorable creature!!

showing off a bountiful harvest!!  made to be so interesting.  All of these magnets are heavy and super strong, so my kitty will not be able to knock them off the fridge, which is a small one, dorm type, on the floor, mags within her reach. I can also pop notes and reminders with them.

this one is 100 percent SQUEEEE!!! Such a darling wee mouse. Very much my style, vintage and sweet.
thank you so much, PromisedHeartbrk!!!!

24  Animal Shelter Room in a pillbox in Completed Projects by blupaisan on: April 02, 2016 05:19:40 AM

My niece turns 14 tomorrow. When she comes from California for a visit each year, all she really wants to do is hang out at the local animal shelter and luv on the kitties. So when I saw this old hinged pillbox at GoodWill for a buck, i knew I had to make something tiny and appropriate for her birthday.

it was a great deal of fun to wander my room in search of materials that would be tiny enough to work with. The flooring is made from geranium stems, not just the  flower stems, but the really tiny ones coming off each individual bloom. The flowers stopped blooming on my windowsill last week and all were nicely dried.
The figure is one I purchased last month for the tiny challenge, then could not craft so much for what I wanted to enter, as my wrist was acting up. It was male, I changed it to resemble Faustine, my niece, with yellow thread for hair.

the window showing the Vermont landscape outside (no, it is not a painting on the wall....) is framed with more geranium stems.

The pic above shows the size of the kitty I carved out of dried ModPodge (thank you, LadybugsAndBumblebees!) and I cannot believe I got these wee ears to actually stay in place and get painted grey.

I used brown packaging paper for the litter inside the box, cutting tiny slivers, then rubbing it between gluey fingers to create a mess. Ya  reallllllly do not need much litter in such a wee box. I wish I had been able to create a smaller scooper, but did my best. Geranium stem handle.
rug is a single eyelet from fabric I have held on to for years.
Basket is plastic 'clamshell' type covering over a tiny cell battery and white kitty inside is carved from an aspirin.
Ball is a seed bead.

The outer shell of the box began with several layers of red nail polish but I could never get it thick enuf to cover the prexisting enamel picture. so I began layering on top of it, an outer ring of dark blue, lace around the edges,  a cutout from a round cotton doily, and a handpainted pawprint on paper.

thanks for looking!!!! And thanks to Acadian Driftwood for professional pics!!

27  [ACCEPTED] if you can break it, you can make it! in Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. by blupaisan on: March 20, 2016 05:10:45 AM

I would love to see a challenge that calls for first busting something up, then using the bits to create something entirely different.

Not just china, but musical instruments, dismembered dolls, shredded greeting cards, furniture, purses, board games, greatcoats, rugs, old cars, ye old dog house, bicycles, the list goes on. Requirement is you need to get out your sledgehammers (or seam rippers, same thing) and take apart at least 50 percent of your original item(s) then create something using the parts. Only added items are from the original item(s) and glue or other fastenings.

Wow, I will be there would be some seriously cool entries for this!!

Apparently, snarky is the new black.
I seem to be on a tiny thing kick. I see snark all over Craftster and wonder who would be up for this. The possibilities seem endless (and fun.) !  Tongue
