1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / My daughter, Willy Wonka (costume) on: October 15, 2008 07:32:36 PM
Hello all!! I've been commenting for a while now but haven't posted any of my projects. Halloween is my big project time so here we go.

This year my daughter wanted to be Willy Wonka for Halloween. Not the modern Johnny Depp Wonka but the original Gene Wilder Wonka. Here's what I cooked up for her.

The hat, vest, jacket and cane are all handmade. I found a tutorial via ThreadBanger that I used to draft the pattern for the vest. I used that same pattern, slightly adjusted, and added sleeves to make the coat. The hat was made with poster board and tape then covered in orange felt. I used hot glue to attach the felt. I'm not entirely happy with some of the lumpy areas but it is a costume for a 3 year old so I let go of that. The hat came out very large and looks pretty big on her but I think that adds to the overall look of the costume. It is Willy Wonka, after all!!

She's really happy with it (and so am I) and after taking the pictures tonight she had to call her grandma and her aunt so they could get online and see the pictures. Let me know what you think!
