861  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Newbies Only Round 10 (CLOSED; Send Out 8/22) on: August 14, 2008 08:41:30 AM
I shipped mine through UPS (just because it is CRAZY at our post office!) and although I took my own box with me, I ended up buying a more appropriate one there.  They have a wide assortment and all the tape and stuff.  I don't have that stuff lying around the house, so it was much easier to let them deal with it.  UPS measures the box, so the smaller size of their box was important to the cost.  My box only cost $1.99 so it was worth it to have them do it.  (If I had actually bought a box and tape at Walmart it would have cost more.)  Hope that helps a little ...

Just wanted to post a picture showing you WHY my pin cushion smells like coffee - there's this great little velcro pocket in the bottom:

You can change out the beans when they lose their scent or switch it out for potpourri - what an ingenious idea!!

I have posted my pics in the gallery (I'm so excited to be the first one!!)  You have got to get over there and see what I got - you will be amazed!
865  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / The most amazing package ever! Obviously, IMG intense ... on: August 12, 2008 03:54:53 PM
Yeah!!  I am the first one to post pictures 'cuz I have the world's greatest swap partner, ShesxCrafty!  I don't even have words to describe the stuff I got - AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, AWESOME - they just don't cut it.  Obviously this post is img intense - I don't know if these pics will justice to the actual items, but here goes ...

First, a wonderful pair of Mary Jane slippers, in a great purple color (not blue like in the picture) and as comfy as can be.  They immediately went on my feet and I think I will wear them forever - so cute!  (Pardon my ugly, old lady feet, please!)

Next, a pair of fingerless gloves, in my favorite colors (black and deep green) - PERFECT for Arizona winters (cold, but not COLD)  I really wanted a pair of these and I love knitted items, since I can't do it.  I can't wait to wear them when I start running again in the winter.

The prettiest pincushion ever - I had plenty on my Wist and I never expected one so nice (now I can get rid of the old timey tomato and strawberry one!)  And, the special part - she put coffee beans in the bottom because I LOVE COFFEE - it totally smells awesome!  (Am I using too many exclamation points?!  I can't help myself, I'm so amazed!)

I know this picture doesn't do justice to this, because this little baby Phoenix keychain is fantastic - it is so cute!!  (My cat immediately tried to steal that one away for himself.)  Maybe I need to take a picture holding it so you can see how tiny and delicate it is - so sweet.

And, of course, I saved the best for last.  I actually had tears in my eyes when I opened this up, it is so beautiful and I couldn't have asked for something more personal than this.

A hand-painted Phoenix totebag!  I consider it to be a work of art and it's so awesome, made just for me!!  (You can't imagine how excited I am about it!)  The Phoenix is my personal representation for the element of Fire, and my personal power "animal".  As a Wiccan, I am totally into the elements and am particularly drawn to the Phoenix (I had a "calling" to move out here).  Vyvien incorporated all four elements into the artwork - Air, Water, Earth and my Phoenix - Fire.  I just can't get over this - I can't come up with the words to describe how intensely happy I am - no, seriously!  I would have accepted anything from anyone, even the absolute beginner, but I really struck gold with Vyvien as my partner.

Here's a pic of a little more detail - it looks even better in real life:

I also mentioned that I am currently doing much reading in Buddhism and would love an Ohm symbol onsomething, so on the back of the tote -

(Everyone needs a little Ohm in their lives!)

I can't over-emphasize how beautiful the painting is on this bag!

I could go on and on and on about how thrilled I am (how dare you even think about suffering from craft anxiety, ShesxCrafty - you did a fantastic job!) but I'm sure you'd rather me post them now ...

THANK YOU SO, SO, MUCH!!

(Now I am going to go and suffer a little craft anxiety myself ...)

OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG ... !!!

I FINALLY opened my package and I am truly amazed at what was inside and I am so thrilled you would not believe it!  Vyvien, you do amazing work, you are a true artist!!  I'm about to take pictures and I only hope that they do them justice - I'm so overwhelmed I can't believe it!

I really didn't want to open it before I sent mine out - I was having trouble with one project and just needed to do it over, but didn't want to be influenced by what I received ... (yes, I actually am the kind that you could set my Christmas presents in front of me in July and I won't even peak - my boyfriend hates that.)  So after working all night, I came home and completely did a redo.  I'm  really, really glad I did (I knew I was capable of a little better)  because the stuff I just got is AMAZING!!

I have to run and take some pics and get them up ASAP - you will all be drooling!!

I'll take you up on that bet about who receives first 'cuz I got my package today from ShesxCrafty!!  I didn't get to open it yet, since I am at work ... and since I am finished with her crafts I want to get them in a box and out to her in the morning and then open mine ... I know - that sounds strange, not ripping into it right away, but I don't want to risk changing my mind on what I am sending out (call it severe lack of confidence!).  But I am running out to mail her's first thing in the morning then I will open mine and post pics!!  So - call off your bets, Vyvien wins!!

I want a craft room!  I have to wait for one of those kids to move out ...

Wow, I have this really weird feeling of withdrawal today!  I've been crafting hard and heavy and now today I had to clean up the huge mess and ... now I am staring at the boxes of supplies and feeling a little lost.  I feel like I should be making something, ANYTHING!

Guess I can go and take some pics of my stuff ... hope everyone has a happy and productive evening!!

I totally dedicated myself to crafting yesterday and I finished my projects -  yeah!!  Overall I'm quite satisfied with everything ... although I must say, sometimes the simplest thing becomes the biggest nightmare.  Unfortunately it now gives me time to clean my house, do the laundry and go to work tonight ...

I'll probably have to wait until Tuesday to ship because of my work schedule - but that's ok, something is still drying anyway.  I'm so excited 'cuz my amazing partner has already shipped my package - I love to get mail!!
