11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Failed Dye Job-but maybe I should keep it? on: June 23, 2009 01:45:33 AM
So I tried and failed to dye a bunch of things black. Three of the things look exactly the same as they did before except sort of dirty, but the other two underwent interesting changes.
A white button up blouse I bought turned this weird periwinkle color:

and a bright orange-ish red sweater turned this maroon color:

(The buttons are the original color of the sweater).

I wear almost exclusively black, but I found these colors rather interesting.

What say you? Should I redye them and hope for black or should I leave them be?
PS what'd I do wrong? I used Rit if that helps, in a bucket and I stirred the whole thing with my hands for an hour. You do not want to know what they look like right now.

Thanks in advance.
12  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Is pleather any more difficult to sew... on: May 30, 2009 08:32:20 PM
as opposed to cotton or anything else? I want to make a red pleather jacket but I've never sewn anything before and I'm wondering if there's anything I should watch out for.

I want this:

13  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Moose slippers way too big... on: November 12, 2008 01:41:00 PM
hey there. I have these moose slippers (not the slip on sort, the ones that go all the way around like a regular shoe) and I can't wear them properly because the size is way too big and my feet simply fall right out. I want to make the inside smaller, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Would I just stitch the heel of the slipper on on the inside, or should I take it apart and do something else?
Thanks in advance.
14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Dyeing a faded shirt with multiple colors-questions! on: September 08, 2008 12:30:57 AM
Hey there. I have this shirt thing that I'd love to redye. When I bought it it was black, but now it's a sort of gray color. The problem is it6's got these little dancing white skeletons and red stars and red cherries on it. if I were to dye the thing black again, would all of the little details be destroyed?
Thanks in advance.
