1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Ahoy Matey! on: October 04, 2008 06:34:51 PM
My husband has been gone for 5 weeks, and they are finally coming home next week. So to welcome my sailor back I made my daughter a little sailor dress. It has anchor buttons on the back but I didn't snap a pic of that.

2  COOKING / Dessert / Mow my lawn- get free pie on: September 23, 2008 10:40:27 AM
So my husband is out to sea right now and my brother in law graciously offered to mow our yard. I was so so thankful so I made him an apple pie because he loves pie. Here is how it turned out- it is huge!
Pre top crust- there are over 4 pounds of apples!

With the top crust before baking-
After baking-
Is it wrong that now I don't want to give it to him? The house smells so good!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Daddy's girl gets tattooed on: August 29, 2008 05:40:05 PM
Hey Ya'll. So I made up a onesie so that my daughter, who already looks like her daddy, can now be even more like him. I mocked up his tattoos onto a onesie for her. Hope you like it. And hopefully she won't be asking for any real ones until she's 18.
First, a shot with daddy and baby, notice the dog snuck in, and my crafty area in the back.

Close up of the shirt. His belly tattoo says In God I Trust, but hers says In Milk I Trust.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / First Christmas Outfit on: August 19, 2008 09:27:17 AM
I hope its not too early to be asking about Christmas, but I want to make my DD something cute for Christmas. However, I don't like all the commercially available satin and velvet and poofy stuff. Do any of you have a good design you have done previously, or a great pattern, or just suggestions? I'm thinking maybe red corduroy with an applique, but I think a jumper would be more "boy" than girl". Any help would be appreciated!!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / You are so glad you aren't me AKA I HATE chiffon! on: August 18, 2008 08:25:51 PM
Okay, so I'm posting these because I just finished sewing this, and despite now hating myself for even daring to try chiffon, here it is completed and pretty much wearable. This was a labor for sure, and I should have known better as the lady was cutting it at the store and said "You're going to have fun sewing this" Ha! Yeah right. Here is the front,

And here is a grainy pic of the back with a vintage yellow button from my mom's stash.
Anyway, I'm posting because I need praise after nearly killing myself sewing this!
6  COOKING / Dessert / Orange Red Velvet Wedding Cake! on: August 18, 2008 08:22:18 PM
This is my first post to the food boards, but I made these cakes for a wedding this past weekend and was too proud to not share. So here you go, an orange iced red velvet cake for the bride, and a chocolate chocolate groom's cake for, well, the groom.
7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Fuzzy, Argyle, Winter Coat on: August 12, 2008 11:24:59 AM
Here is the little jacket I just made for EC. She seems to like it and I had fun putting it together. Just wish I could have found a better coordinating zipper at the store. What do you think?
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / My sewing buddy on: July 13, 2008 06:03:29 PM
Here's my latest. I had forgotten all about this little project, it got lost in a bag of scraps. Found it today and whipped it up.

Hope you like it.
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / 80+ granny squares on: July 12, 2008 07:20:43 PM
Hello Crocheting ladies. I am definitely NOT a crocheter, but I found a bag of 80 or so crocheted granny squares in my mom's craft room. I guess she made them back in the 70's or 80's, lost interest and never did anything with them. They are in shades of green and some have a little yellow but they all coordinate. Should I just make a blanket out of them? Are there any other cooler projects I could do? I have a baby, are there cool baby things I could make. I am a clueless person when it comes to this craft but I'm willing to give it a go. Thanks in advance!

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / one pattern, two dresses, three days on: July 03, 2008 06:08:25 PM
Here are two different takes on the same pattern. One is summery and in cotton,
the other turned out to be a little more dressy. I like them both and they have the added
bonus of having pockets, which I didn't realize at first. Smiley Super easy to sew, and I'm not super
experienced with clothing.
