331  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Re: stitch n' bitch felted marsupial tote on: October 09, 2004 05:15:22 AM
Hello - another newbie here  Smiley  Am loving the range of forums on knitting and of those using SnB  Grin

Actually, I used to knit when I was little, just toys and stuff, but I recently rediscovered it when my friend had a baby.  Bought SnB, and here I am!

I've knitted the Marsupial, without pouch so far, on different wool - I live in the UK and we can't get that stuff here.  It was still 100% wool but washer friendly, as that is the closest thing I could get from my LYS (although it doesn't look good for the lys when the owner doesn't know what felting is...).  I'm hoping that a few runs through it on 60 degrees will counteract that. I did a test run with a length of the wool to make it into a bead, and it worked, but took about 20 mins, so I'm still hoping that my very baggy bag will shrink and felt at some point.

I have no access to a toploader washer though, so I'll have to put it in mine and hope for the best!  The hand wash and pounding I tried today doesn't look to have worked anyway  Sad

Cross your fingers for me!
