111  Passport cover! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kosmicgirl on: June 25, 2013 01:24:40 PM
I made a passport cover for my sister-in-law, as a part of her 18th birthday present/graduation gift.
We are taking her on a trip to see the world, and haven't told her much more than that
she'll need a passport, a bikini and a pair of comfortable shoes *grins*

(That's my passport in the photo, excuse my less than stellar passport face  Shocked )

I did a private ATC swap with artista83 (she's been swapping with everyone lately I think! *smiles* )
I already posted the ones I made her here :

..and yesterday I received my cards as well! She was so sweet, volunteering to resend the cards and everything.
She has really made my first private swap a joy and a great positive experience. And on top of that,
she makes killer ATCs   Smiley

The Gunslinger

Baby Big foot

Got milk? (This one made me chuckle Smiley )

Thanks for being a great swapper Artista83. I'd love to swap again anytime! Smiley

These are the cards that got lost in transit:

Maybe you'll still get them one day!

Oath keeper is on fire it seems Smiley
I received a lovely card today on my cryptozoology theme. It's Nessie!

I really love her, she's so beautiful and serene Smiley

115  Mannequin ATCs in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by kosmicgirl on: June 14, 2013 02:39:06 PM
I made these for artista83 in a personal swap. This was my first private swap,
so I was a bit nervous about the whole thing, but I've met such a nice person in her!
We decided on a 3 card swap, and she told me she loved creepy dolls, mannequins and that she herself
did many cards with women as objects (check out her cards, they are pretty awesome! ) I decided on
a robot/mannequin/doll theme, with a bit of cogwork thrown in for good measure Wink
Medium is ink and watercolour, with shrink plastic cogs. I even tried colouring the brads black,
to go with the colour scheme better. Loosely inspired by the old Metropolis posters.

The cards are pretty dimensional, the heads are layered over the shrink plastic cogs. I wanted
them to be all working and movable, but the shrink plastic decided to warp just a tiny bit, and they
all turned into more of an ornamental part instead of cool movable doll innards. I gave the headgear
a touch of modge podge to give them the feeling of being made out of a different material.
As an extra, I did a quick and easy drawing of a doll (maybe more sad than creepy, but still)
and somehow I think artista83 liked that one the best! Smiley

I'm really happy she received the cards, that's what I worried about the most, and that she said she liked them Smiley

Well, long story short, I couldn't get the cards out of my head after sending them out,
so a few days later I made a batch for myself as well!
Same theme, same make, just a different colour scheme, and of course, a bonus fourth card for me Smiley

Thanks for watching!

Recieved my "Slap a cog on it and call it Steampunk" card fromPaperbeau
The first one got lost on the way, and she was kind to resend.
Well, without further ado, here's "A Steampunk Poem"

At this point my husband was hanging over my shoulder, as a curious cat.  Cheesy

The poem reads:

"There once was a girl, liked to run
Who also thought mechanics good fun.
She went for a jog,
got lost in a bog,
And thought: that's my luck about done!

Wading in mud she got stuck -
up to her knees in bog muck
She reached for a cog
and the lead for her dog
to pull herself out of the yuck!"

I was laughing so hard when I read this! First of all, I loved limericks as a kid,
and second, this is exactly what I didn't know I wanted from this theme!
You nailed it!  Grin I love this ridiculous notion of "steampunking" things up,
and this was so out of the blue, and so perfect! You made me happy today Paperbeau!

btw... did you make the paper yourself? It feels so luxurious and thick and handmade.

Received from stellou today! She claimed me for my Comics ABC,
and made me....

(please excuse my chewed fingernail in the photo....  Smiley )

E for Elfquest!!

What I couldn't get a good photo of, is the way Cutter's eyes peer out of the cut out leaves on the front. Also, the
cut out leaves on the inside add a delicate dimensionality and feeling to the card. They are also slightly
glittery, which also doesn't show... It's beautiful, such a trip down memory lane. I loved Elfquest back when,
and used to hang at my friends house all the time reading the comics Smiley

....and EXTRAS!

Stellou sent a few other pictures from comics, as she wrote she had a hard time picking her favourite,
and it's like you looted my shelves here. Bourgeon and Loisel are among my all time favourites
(I even have a signed Loisel on my wall *gloat, gloat* ), and the card they all came in is beautiful as well.

Thank you!

I love the Wolverine card with the doily in the background! So awesome.
And the playing card is fantastic, I can't wait to see what happens with your theme,
deadsweaters, it's a great idea!

I also have to post the card she sent this in!

It's like you know me!!!  This is so me!  I've got it hanging on the wall along with the ATC.  Thank you!

Had I known you liked it that much, I wouldn't folded it.... sorry!
The ball over the seal was an attempt to create a brad on my own, but I'm not sure you should
move it too often... have to work on that technique a little  Cheesy

There are so may great cards this month, I'm so in awe of you guys!

This is a link to a video of the movable owl ATC I made for blupaisan.
I'm rather proud of the construction on this one, if I can say so myself  Smiley

I also received a load of ATC the last few days! I feel so spoiled!

First, from deadsweaters, Rorschach for my Comics ABC.
I love it! I love him in Watchmen, and you did a great job. I love the texture of the paint  Smiley

Second, I received not one, but two cards from fancybutch.
She picked me for my Vintage collage theme, and added an extra of bigfoot for my
cryptozoology theme! Thanks! I love them both, big foot is adorable!

Third, (yeah, I got a LOAD of cards!  Grin ) I have a wonderful card from blupaisan for my
freakshow/sideshow theme. It's the enormous-eared man! Pay up to see him live! Can he fly with those ears?
Only 3 cents to find out! Great picture blu, I love him.  Smiley

And, finally, another double set, this time fromhelcura. She claimed me twice,
for my comics ABC, and cryptozoology. And she included a bunch of stamps as extras, thanks!

I was a little bit confused, as she sent me two envelopes, and thought at first that she had sent me someone
else's card by mistake, but it turned out to be two different claims  Cheesy

I love Oracle, and how you incorporated the "O" into her wheelchair. Trs clever. The Mongolian Deathworm
is lovely, but I had a hard time capturing the colours with my camera. It's a delicate mix of browns and reds,
and my photo doesn't do it justice, I'm afraid. I really love the backs of the cards as well, like little infoboxes
of the cards. I might have to steal that idea  Smiley

120  My first try at ATCs - April ongoing swap in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by kosmicgirl on: May 09, 2013 02:03:13 AM
In April, I decided to try out swapping for the first time, and somehow also decided that it was a good idea to try out a new craft at the same time Cheesy
These are the ATCs I made for the April ongoing ATC swap. I had such fun making these, and I can only hope they are able to add to the collections of
the receivers as well!

This was my first card ever, for the theme "Unusual Fairies"
The Fairy Godfather

For the theme "Grimm Fairy Tales"
Brderchen und Schwesterchen

For the theme "My secret"
well... it's a secret!, but I guess you can imagine what it's about  Grin

I've had this tube of glitter medium standing around, since a lady at the local craftstore told me it works "GREAT!!" with embossing. (it does NOT!)
So I decided to experiment with glitter on this card.. and I still find blue glitter everywhere! The medium was cool though, and I think it holds up pretty well.
I also had no idea glitter was such a b**** to photograph! Terrible!

For the theme "Fairy Houses"
The Java House

For the theme "1982"
I love rock'n roll

The backdrop was created digitally, and I just realized that I'm visible in the reflection of the metal studs!

For the theme "Famous monsters ABC"

This was such a facepalm moment. As I had the card ready for send out, checking the recipients address, I realized that I had made a letter
for the alphabet that she already had received! DOH! So, as a quick last minute solution, Godzilla was made and was sent along!

Most of these are made with watercolour, indian ink and copic pens - cut out and collaged. I hate working on a picture, just to botch a background,
so I usually opt for the cut and paste solution from the start...  Wink

So, there they are - my first ATCs! I'm pretty proud of the outcome over all, and am already signed up for the next swap round!
