1  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Make a card for a child with leukemia! on: March 28, 2011 01:10:24 PM
Hey all! I'm reposting my card from the paper craft section to help share this easily done good deed. I hope other craftsters will follow my lead! I recently learned of this story that was shared with me on Facebook. Max is a 12 year old boy diagnosed with leukemia (sp?). The ONLY thing he wanted for was to receive one million cards. After hearing this i quickly looked through my short stash and came up with this card in about a half hour.

If that doesn't work and you wish to send a card, you can send a card to:

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Another mario quilt for the bf on: September 03, 2010 02:23:24 AM
So my bf has been seeing the pixelated mario quilts and been wanting one..honestly I really dont have time to cut out all those squares though. I was inspired by xperimentl's painted lego duvet cover though as seen here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=356261.0

So i decided I could paint the characters in squares instead. Two weeks worth of blood, sweat, and tear's, here's another mario quilt:

My favorite ones that i think turned out the best are in the middle as seen here

For the back I used soft and comfy fabric from Jo Ann's. it was a pain in the butt to work with. Hence the reason the only quilting done on it was around the squares. Also why the binding is a bit wonky but i think he'll enjoy it.
Here's a picture of the back color

4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / freezer paper stencil with bleach question on: September 02, 2010 12:20:15 PM
Ok. So I am attempting to bleach out a black hoodie using freezer paper stencils and bleach. However, after 5 minutes of spritzing with bleach/water mix the color is staying! Am I just unlucky? whats the maximum time you should leave the stuff on? Every other tutorial says it takes just a minute or two. I've already cold washed it and am going to try it again so any advice is appreciated.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / baby onesie dress and some extra onesies on: March 04, 2010 03:37:57 PM
Ok so one of my friends just had a baby. I recently bought some baby leg warmers from another friend to give to the new mom but then decided I need to make things to go with them! so here is a few of things I made to go with some yellow and grey legwarmers. Sorry the pictures are blurry..I don't really have good lighting or a knack for taking good pictures lol If anyone wants a tute to the onesie dress I can get you the link I used.

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Jewelry set for a hawkeye fan on: December 18, 2008 01:18:48 AM
Ok so my family was raised on loving the university of iowa hawkeyes..i've been going to games since i was born lol. Anyways, so this christmas i thought i would make a set of jewelry for my stepmom with the hawkeye colors that she can wear any place any time. I wanted it to be festive enough to wear to the games yet not something that thats all she could wear it to.

Here's the necklace. Its just standard bead spacer bead strung on jewelry wire.

Here's the bracelet. She likes funky jewelry so i though using the bigger cube beads would give it more of a funky look.

Here is what im proud of most, the earrings. Ive never made this type of dangle earring but I'm pretty proud of how they turned out.

Here's a closer image of the beads

I did not intend to have a cube theme to this set but its just the way it worked out lol. I think she will like it and thats all that matters but C and C is always welcome!
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My first crochet project! Also a scarf! lol on: December 07, 2008 01:24:38 AM
Ok so after seeing the other girls post it puts mine to shame but, recently I took a class to learn to crochet and so to practice my single and double crochet i made a scarf! Its made out of cotton yarn since other types seem to make me itch and the funky yarns are hard to do if your a beginner like me. So without further ado,

The scarf! modeled by my cat

and just for fun
SCARF VS. KITTY DEATHMATCH! (lol she decided to yawn when i took the picture  Roll Eyes)

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Banana bracelet also advice requested please! on: October 27, 2008 12:08:53 AM
Ok so the backstory of this bracelet is that my stepmom was admitted to the hospital because she couldn't walk or even stand straight. After a bunch of tests they found she had low potassium so they put her on some meds to bring it back up and told her to try to get more potassium by eating high potassium foods more like bananas. My dad was joking that from now on she was getting ceral with bananas every morning. Well I was really worried and I wanted to make something to cheer her up. I thought maybe a cute bracelet with cute bananas would make her cheer up a little and maker her laugh about the whole ordeal. So here's what i made her

After I made it and showed it my boyfriend he kinda scoffed at it and replied "that's kinda rude to make her isn't it?" Well that hurt my feelings since I've been working on it all night and really did worry me if it would be rude. So I guess my question would be would any of you be offended if you were the recipient?
