at least you HAD chocolate frogs.  I can't find any Harry Potter candy anywhere.   Cry  I had Every Flavor Beans until Walden's Books went out, but I was never brave enough to try them.

I'm pretty sure that you can order stuff online, they just won't ship the chocolate stuff during certain months. A tip for the Beans - don't trick your friends into eating the vomit flavored ones when they don't know about the Beans, it's not nice.  Wink

yeah, I have seen some stuff online.  I think I may get some.  and Borders is an hour and a half away.  I'm not driving that far for some chocolate frogs.   Tongue

and this is why I was never brave enough to try the Beans.

The detail of the bottle of newts is amazing! What are the "newts" made out of? And I'm jealous of all the HP candy, the candy store by me got kicked out of the mall to make way for a more "sophisticated" store. They took away my chocolate frogs!  Angry
THEY TOOK AWAY YOUR CHOCOLATE FROGS!!!???!!! How Rude!

3974  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Re: Has anyone dealt with Fire Mountain Gems? on: September 24, 2008 08:59:05 AM
I just ordered from FMG myself.  I loved the products I received and was very pleased with them, however...

Be careful when using the $5 flat rate shipping. It takes up to 3 weeks for the items to arrive, and I've had FedEx deliver to the wrong address twice. They (FedEx) don't take as much care with the $5 flat rate shipments as they do the regular ones.
I've never ever had a problem when I do priority shipping though.

I had the SAME type of problem.  They shipped from Oregon or whereever to Michigan.  It took 2 weeks.  While watching the tracking, I saw that it sat at the Fed Ex warehouse for 4 days at one point, and 2 days at another - doing nothing.  Then they marked on their tracking that it was delivered, though it wasn't (I was waiting for it rather impatiently).  After 4 phone calls and the driver marking it as delivered and sending it halfway BACK to FMG, I finally got my package 2 days later.  Undecided

I'll use priority from now on no matter what size my order is.

I always use that.  it's never taken more than 8 days for it to get to me.
3975  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Re: MELTING PONY BEADS on: September 22, 2008 01:32:39 PM
a little more info...

450 degrees
10 minutes (MAYBE up to 12)
anything more, you may end up burning them like I just did.  my yellow beads started turning brown.  my red beads kinda lost their color.  this round didn't work out too well for me.  I left them in for about 15 minutes because some of the beads refused to melt all the way and burning occurred.   Cry

I'll be posting pictures of mine in a bit.

EDIT:
picture!

you can see on the maple leaf that the baking sheet I used wasn't very flat so extra plastic crept out of the cookie cutter.  Undecided  the rest of the extra plastic just needs to be broken off.

and the bottom left area of the yellow leaf has a little lump in it.  that's a partially melted pony bead.   Tongue

and it didn't show up in the picture, but the plastic kinda looks like it's marbled or something.  it's pretty neat.   Grin

someone that responded in to the idea on the website I provided said they did it at 450 for a total of about 14 minutes.  I set my oven to 450 degrees and it took about 10 minutes.  check on them after 10 minutes, but if you still see lumps (like I did find in one of mine) give them a few more minutes.

AND OPEN THE WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!  the smell of burning plastic is not one of my favorite things to smell.   Tongue
3978  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Bird Necklace on: September 18, 2008 08:49:40 PM
That's cool. I'm new to clay, does ultralight mean not as durable as I guess regular sculpey?

this is Sculpy Ultralight: http://www.sculpey.com/Products/products_poly_ultralight.htm

and that's doing a lot more with it than I thought could be done.  nice job!   Smiley
3979  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Re: Anyone Bead Weaving? on: September 18, 2008 11:51:20 AM
why do I do it?  because it allows me to make things like this:

just in case there's a few people out there who haven't seen this.   Wink
that is all square stitch (a type of off-loom weaving).  I find that video game sprites come in handy when making these.  video game addicted cross stitchers will say the same thing.   Tongue

and sophieangele, your piece is beautiful.   Smiley
