3961  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Easy Breezy Wrap Pants Tutorial on: June 29, 2008 06:17:23 PM
I added a buckle for the little one so she can get them on and off easily to go to the bathroom.  Worn this way, with the back wrapped over the front, she doesn't have to undo the ties for the front half to go.  Just drop down the back and the front part stays out of the way!

thank you so much for a tut.  I gotta go get me some fabric now.   Tongue

and what a cute idea for the kiddies!!!  that would make it a cinch for while they're potty training.  Smiley

now that I see how you wear them, I recognize them as something I own.  my parents had gone to the Virgin Islands for my cousin's wedding and brought back an outfit that has a pair of pants just like these.  I LOVE my pants and now I my have to make more.  thanks for sharing! (and reminding me that I have a pair Tongue)
3963  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: beaded Nintendo characters (first post) updated with pictures! on: June 24, 2008 12:44:28 PM
I do plan on doing more.  I just finished the hedgehog from Mario Bros. 2 yesterday.  I'll be updating as I make more.  Smiley
3964  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Re: Where Can I Find Patina Discs? on: June 24, 2008 11:45:53 AM
I mostly just feel utterly frustrated because Fire Mountain used to carry them

someone else who knows about this.  Smiley

but do you know WHY they no longer carry them?  I asked and they told me that the company burned to the ground and they never reopened.  Sad

I have yet to find anywhere else that carries them.   Cry
3965  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Re: MELTING PONY BEADS on: June 24, 2008 11:32:14 AM
it just so happens that I found a project on another craft site where a girl made a darling necklace using melted pony beads.  the comments under the pictures show that one girl set her oven at 450.  she did use the tri beads, but they should be about the same as pony beads.

here's the link: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/barb_wire_wrapped_heart_necklace

I've been wanting to do this myself, but I'm having a terrible time finding metal cookie cutters.  Sad

3968  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: do you know how much I love The Little Mermaid? on: June 23, 2008 07:58:33 AM
wow!  this is amazing.  I tried my hand at beading like this, only not nearly as complex. I think i ended up scrapping the project 10 beads into it.  It really looks like a labor of love.

ps my daughter is flipping out over it too.  not, flipping, but running around the room screaming "Ariel!  it's Ariel on your computer!  Let's look at that picture! Click on it!!!!!"  She is a huge ariel fan, if you couldn't tell.   Wink

really?  she likes Ariel?  I couldn't tell.   Wink

I'd been wanting to get into more complex beading, but I kept giving up too until I found this awesome book.  it's called "The Encyclopedia of Beading Techniques".  they make everything very easy to understand.  so check it out if you are interested in beading.  it's very helpful.  even more so than the Dummies and Idiots books that I bought.

Very nice!!  Did you do this on a loom or freehand?  I do loomwork, and on occasion find good patterns in cross-stitch books.  But prefer to make my own most times.  I am impressed.....today the little mermaid......tomorrow a lamp shade eh?

Peace hugs and beads!!
nancy

freehand.  all of it.  it was all done in square stitch.

and I'd like to try my hand at a lamp shade.  now, to find a base...

Oh wow! I love it. It'd be freaking awesome if you did more disney characters this way!
I do plan on starting another.  but it seems I can't yet due to the fact that I don't have all of the colors I need, so I have to order them.  but stay tuned for more!
