I just had to share this.

I've received stamps from a few other countries, but never one so cute!  so yes, I'm sharing a stamp that came on the pieces from gala_apples.  Cheesy

isn't he cute?

295  My Little Pony and Kingdom Hearts cross stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by Krafty_Karasu on: August 08, 2009 08:20:35 PM
these were for 2 different swaps.  they have both been received, so I am safe to post them.

for the first swap, I made some things based on the video games in the Kingdom Hearts series.  this is a Riku card from Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories that I made into a patch:

this is the sprite I used:

the second is Buttons from My Little Pony.  I put this one on the cover of a needle book.  I had originally planned on doing that, but then I ran across this needle book by cacauate and based mine on it:

this is the sprite I used:

I decided to add the sprites I used for these projects.  Smiley

you like?

296  Ghostbusters and TMNT etched beer mugs in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by Krafty_Karasu on: August 08, 2009 08:01:36 PM
another swap item.  my partner received, but the TMNT mug was shattered.  Cry  stupid post office.

done with, you probably guessed it, puffy paint.  I'm not as good at it as Onyxnox or skarinja, but I'm happy with them.

297  from TMNT t-shirt to drawstring backpack! **now with tut!!!** in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Krafty_Karasu on: August 08, 2009 07:57:26 PM
now that my partner has received, I can share this awesome bag I made for our swap.

it was originally an XL t-shirt (so that I had plenty of material to work with, and since I can't cut straight lines to save my life, I needed it).  it's made of 3 layers of material mainly because the t-shirt fabric is that amazingly annoying new material that is so light and stretchy that it would never even hold a soft cover book.  I've got a layer from the t-shirt, interfacing that's supposed to be iron-on but doesn't cling to anything, and purple cotton for the inside color (her favorite turtle is Donatello, so I had to use purple since that's the color of his mask).  I even used purple thread.  Cheesy

I want to post a tut for this since I don't see one on here, but I don't have one ready yet.  as soon as I do, I will be sure to add it!

it is now 3:25 am as I start to type this.  I stayed up when I should have gone to bed and made a rough tutorial.

materials that I used:
1 t-shirt
1 yard of heavy purple cotton for the "lining" (had some left over)
1 yard of medium weight interfacing (had some left over)
21/2 yards thick cording
9 inches of bright green nylon webbing (this is the item whose name escapes me in the tut)
purple thread

bear with me, this is my first tutorial.

also, when I added the loop, I did like you see on school backpacks and stitched a square, then an X in the middle.  for durability I guess.

one last step...after putting stuff in it and closing it...ENJOY IT!  show it off to your friends.  be the envy of everyone you see.  Wink

I hope that's clear enough.  if not, MESSAGE ME!  I'd be happy to try and help you figure out what you may be stuck on.  and remember, you can play around with the tut as needed.  like, if you have a shirt like the one I used in the tut where the picture would be totally lost in the final scrunching, you can add fabric to the top to make it longer.  or you can make the whole thing shorter and have a square pack.  or add to the side and have a wider one.  do what you need to do to make it work for you.  and remember...HAVE FUN!

and don't forget, if anyone makes one of their own, link it here so we can all see the awesomeness of what you created.

and it is now 3:46 am as I hit post.  I'm going to bed now.

298  Re: 80's Cartoon o Rama Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Krafty_Karasu on: August 08, 2009 04:42:37 PM
stupid STUPID mail people!!!!!!!!!  I'm utterly pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and yes, I did get a picture (and I'm glad I did).  it's just not the best in the world:

I am so happy that you like everything.

oh, and the bag credit doesn't fully belong to me, it partially belongs to Eowynt and her oragami bag.  I did make a bag for the anime/manga swap that followed the pattern more closely, but because I wanted to put those handles on Rae's purse, I changed it a bit to add the green sides.  it's really not that complicated, just a pain in the butt trying to put the side panels in.  that's the part I never like, but have done often for most of the bags I've made in my swaps.  it's the worst when you're trying to work with vinyl.

anyways, glad you like everything, mad that your mug was broken.  Angry  but I had a ton of fun making everything.  Grin

oh!  and the needle book idea came from cacauate.  I had already decided that I wanted to use the cross stitch MLP on the cover, but then I ran across this cute idea for putting everything together.  she used just a button for her closure, but I put a snap under mine.

299  Re: Anime Manga Swap 4 Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by Krafty_Karasu on: August 06, 2009 04:46:49 PM
I received from Harvey today!  I would have posted sooner, but I didn't hear the mailman come.  too busy playing Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.  Wink

anyways, on to the goods!  ***warning.  a tad on the pic heavy side***

first up we have this lovely anime/manga box.

pictures of the covers of the first 3 (since that's all there are right now) Return to Labyrinth mangas, the little picture on the front says "Pet Shop of Horrors".

Major Motoko Kusanagi and a Tachikoma from "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex"

Chihiro Ogino and No Face from "Spirited Away", Moppet from "Return to Labyrinth" and Count D from "pet Shop of Horrors".  there's also another picture of the Major on the bottom that I didn't see till I looked at this picture.  Tongue

Alice from the first episode "Daughter" of "Pet Shop of Horrors"

No Face again on top, The Major on the bottom.  you can see the PoH logo better here.

inside I found these wonderful bookmarks (how did she know I needed more?!?!)

they're both No Face and the Major, but they each have 2 sides.  where did you find that blue No Face picture??  it's so cool!

this is Count D.  isn't he cute?  I just love his kimono.

this is cool too.  now I can wear No Face!

some little goodies

an herbal tea and green tea.  the contents of the green tea were kind of found...everywhere.  in the pockets of the sweatshirt, in D's hair.  I got it cleaned up, but this is what I was left with.  still a good amount in there.  Smiley
and my favorite chocolate in the world!  Cadbury!!!!!!

I've never seen anything like this before.  this is why I like getting candies from other countries, even if it is something I can get here.  other countries tend to have different packaging and stuff.

I love everything Harvey.  I was so excited when I (finally) saw the box on the porch.  I came in and started tearing into it.  thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

the only thing that pissed me off with that Riku card was the sparkly blue floss.  that stuff is a nightmare, so I only use it sparingly.  and usually only one color per item.

as for the thongs, I use them for my mangas.  each series I own has its own personal one.  all of the Kingdom Hearts series share the same one, Labyrinth and Chobits each have ones that I bought at Waldens/Borders but fit so well with the books, etc.  I made my Dark Crystal thong and Kingdom Hearts thong.  mine is more Heartless based with black and red beads all over it, a key on one end and a Paopu fruit on the other.

here's some clearer pictures of the fuzzy ones:
