1  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap -- December 2016 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Krafty_Karasu on: January 03, 2017 04:21:41 PM
I received from emilywilde today!  behold!  Glittery, Shiny, Lovely Crows!!!

the theme she chose was glitter, but she decided to add crows into the mix, which is another of my themes.  and really, it's fitting.  crows like to collect shiny objects, and in this case, they are the shiny things.  Smiley  they almost look like they're cosmic crows with that sparkly purple, blue and silver background.  I just love it!  thank you Emily!

2  Ornament Wreath in Winter Holidays by Krafty_Karasu on: December 18, 2016 05:04:18 PM
after making my mini wreath last year, I wanted to make a bigger one this year.  so, grabbing some ornaments after they went on sale last year, I waited (and waited and waited and waited...) until finally someone was able to get a wire hanger for me from the dry cleaner (do they even sell these things anywhere anymore?) to use as the base.  thankfully these ornaments are put together in a way that makes the tops hard to pop off the ornament, so I didn't have to glue them  I just strung them on the hanger, arranging them so they nestled together (you can see the hanger in a couple of places, but now that it's hanging up, it's not really noticeable), then wasted about 20 feet of ribbon trying to make the bow.  I'm kinda bad at making bows.  Undecided

this one went to my parents.  I'll be making a black/white/silver one for myself as soon as I get another hanger.

blu, I'm SO glad you think it's a true turquoise too.  Smiley  I would have gone with it as the main color, but I was afraid it wouldn't cover the card face the same way the red would.  and I'm glad you chose red, white, and turquoise as a color combo; ever since I lived in Arizona, that combo has reminded me of the southwest.  I love the color combos they use and this was definitely one I saw a lot.  even on the Native American items I saw.  I even created a beaded mask for a ceramic steer skull using these colors because it just felt right.

thanks, WideEyed!  lol.  it is definitely my favorite swear word.  I just don't go overboard with it and use it as every other word in a sentence.  Tongue  I had already decorated some letters this way for something else, so I thought it would be fun to do for your card.  Grin

I got my key card from blu today.  that was definitely a lot of cutting you did!  holy cow!  it kinda looks like my keyring too.  Cheesy

I love the little anchor charm.  in the card that came with it, she said it took her a while to come up with a clever name for the boat key.  I wasn't sure what that meant, so I took a look at all of the keys; she wrote what they were on the back of each one!!!  the tiny pink one says "doll house", and the blue one that has "NTIC" (ATLANTIC) on it is the boat key, and it's called "A.T.Seas"!  that is incredibly clever!!!  thank you, blu!!!

here's everything all wrapped up, each with their corresponding letter.

N - is for neon candy corn art

E - is for eclectic dream catcher with feathers and keys

another great use for embroidery hoops.  and I LOVE dream catchers!!!

W - is for witch costumed Tsum Tsum

isn't it adorable?!  I only have a small collection of the plush Tsum Tsums and this is a welcome addition!

lastly...dinkime, do you have a spy or did I mention that I hadn't had any candy corn this year (not counting the candy corn M&M's (which don't really count) and candy corn Hershey bar)?

TWO bags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7  wooden snowflake mobile in Completed Projects by Krafty_Karasu on: November 20, 2016 11:38:06 PM
my dad made a new friend last week.  he's a woodworker and has made lots of wooden...doodads (for lack of a better term since my brain has given up on me at the moment) from trees on his property (like 22 acres I think he said).  he gave my dad these wooden snowflakes he made, which of course my dad then gave to me.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them.  some of the snowflakes are made from 6 different kinds of wood as you can see by the different colors.  I don't know exactly what kinds were used, but I know cedar was definitely one of them.  it's the only one I can smell.  lol

closeup of one of the snowflakes to better see the different woods used.

I just marked off the places to hang them from around the inner ring of an embroidery hoop, then put it back together.  it's currently being displayed on a hanger in my doorway since I had no other way to take a picture of it.  I need to get a hook in my ceiling tomorrow, but I couldn't wait that long to show it off.  Grin

I'm so glad you finally got the card, blu.  I'll be paying even more attention from now on.  Cheesy  and I'm glad you like it.

and how funny, I got my card from you!

for my fantasy creatures theme (cryptids count as fantasy creatures.  maybe I'll add that note next time I post my list).  this is Ogopogo, a monster that looks like Canada's version of Nessie.

I love it!  and you can kinda see how the image is shimmery.  so pretty...

thank you, blu!

got two more cards to add to the collection!  (there's also a couple from the September swap if you want to head over there and see them)

from bunny1kenobi, I got a fantasy creature card (Stinger) and a Weird America card (route 666 in Arizona)!

apparently route 666 has has had many weird occurrences recorded on it.  it was renumbered to 491 around 2003.  I used to live pretty close to route 666 in Pennsylvania.  it is still numbered as such to this day, despite the fact that the sign is being repeatedly stolen.

thanks so much, bunny!  I love these new additions!!!
