1  Re: 50 Projects 2015 --POST YOUR 2015 Lists in Craftalongs by Krafty_Karasu on: May 04, 2015 11:59:18 PM
anybody remember me?  lol.  I've been gone for a long time, but I wanted to come back and see what's up on Craftster.   Grin  I hit a bad patch of depression and had little to no interest in crafting, so I kinda disappeared.  but, I did start on one item and have been working on it off and on (mostly on for the last 7 months) and it's the only thing I've been interested in doing.  not sure why either.  most of the time I sit and wonder, "why am I doing this?" as I work away.  you'll see why.

I had originally posted a list that included this item back in 2014...I don't think I updated it to 2015 (nope).  it was number one on my list as I wanted to do it SO badly.  it's approximately 10in X 10in on 28 count...ummm...cloth (I forget what it's called and I really don't feel like getting up to find the name).  when finished, it will consist of 7 colors and (approximately as I found a BIG goof while doing the second color and a few random little goofs while doing the third) 89102 stitches.  hmmm...come to think of it, is that single stitches or completed Xs???

anyway, here's the WIP.  I have a LONG way to go.

it's Marilyn Manson, by the way.  this is how much I love this man; I'm willing to drive myself insane to make this cross stitch of him.

4  Lord Canti cross stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by Krafty_Karasu on: March 27, 2014 09:38:36 PM
I had started this back in February for the Nerd Battles, but alas, it took me 2 months to finish it.  it's still in the Nerd Battles, just not under the original category.

one of my favorite animes is Fooly Cooly (or FLCL).  the character I cross stitched is Canti, a really cool and funny robot.  you can learn more about him and the show here.

he's about 6inx10in, so a definite candidate for professional framing.  and he was stitched on 28 count cloth.

all credit for the design goes to kurichii.

I'm coming back.  and it's all thanks to Mr. X Stitch.  Grin

7  Turquoise bracelet in Beads: Completed Projects by Krafty_Karasu on: October 30, 2013 02:40:03 AM
I had made this a little while back after my aunt gave me the center piece (silver thing with a turquoise stone in the middle).  I had seen bracelets like this in stores, and I knew I could make something similar myself.  so I did.  and I wasn't real crazy about it.  I had a piece of rubber tube looped through the center piece with beads between them like you see in those wrap bracelets, but it wouldn't lay down flat.  but then, when I bought the silver beads I used to make my End of the Trail necklace, I knew they needed to be added to this bracelet.  so I fixed it and now I love it.

9  Black & Mint beaded jewelry set in Beads: Completed Projects by Krafty_Karasu on: October 30, 2013 02:28:37 AM
my fingers hurt SO much from making this stuff.  I sliced my middle finger open a couple of times and even though I've showered 3 times since then and washed my hands at least 20 times, I still have two grey marks (I used smoke FireLine for my stringing material).  but I opened up the first knuckle on my ring finger pretty good.  it freaking HURTS!  Sad  but it was all worth it.

if the bracelet (which closes with 3 snaps) looks a little wonky, it's because I used Ming Tree rounds which aren't uniform in size or shape.  but I like it.  it gives it some texture.

10  Steampunk necklace in Beads: Completed Projects by Krafty_Karasu on: October 30, 2013 02:21:27 AM
this idea just popped into my head late late late last night.  and I'm so happy with the outcome.  Grin

and a closeup of the watch face:

I had bought the watch new, but it was on sale for like $5.  Grin  I got it and another one just for this reason.  I was having a tough time trying to figure out what to put inside since I only have access to what I have on hand (which isn't a whole lot since I'm getting into mixed media and stuff pretty late.  I mean, I've only been collecting stuff for this style for not even 2 years.  and I'm being picky with what I'm collecting).  the watch movement didn't fit in there very well since it's smaller than the backing, but I used some antique bronze beads and glued them around the edge.  now it fits in there perfectly.  you can kinda see them in the upper right hand corner of the face.  I also added some crystals to holes and spaces where tiny gears and whatnot used to be.  the dangles are a crystal drop (that I actually do have more of.  I'm just stupid), a key, and a piece of real quartz.
