I'm not big on crazy costumes, but figured I'd at least make some effort with a spooky bag for Halloween night. Not sure if it would look better if I made it bigger (like tote size)... Any thoughts/suggestions?
They are beautiful, I've made a few of these but not out of sequin, I just used ribbon. Where did you find the clamps? I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find those. I just sew the ribbon around the key chain circle.
Hi. You can find them on ebay or likely any 'crafty' website. Google "Key Fobs" and you should be able to find them.
these are pretty cool. i love sparkly things! what are they made of?
Its sequin 'ribbon' that is sewn onto a length of lightweight webbing. Can be a bit tricky running the sequins through the sewing machine as they tend to catch and can bend or break sometimes; but other than that and the proper color thread -- its somewhat easy.
Thanks guys. Lol -- I know -- the apples are very realistic.
I did get it on Fabric.com and I believe it is called Farmer's Market or something similar (just search apples on that site and it will likely pop up). Loved the fabrics and bought the apples, pea pods, cucumbers and blackberries. They also have potatoes and garlic and a bunch of other farm-y stuff. Was a bit pricey at over $8/yard...but I really love it.
The lining would make good little fold-able grocery bags -- might try that next
Yeah, I'm trying to cut down on plastic bag usage -- I guess they figure if they hit us in the wallet it'll force us to change our ways a bit. I never buy garbage bags though -- just re-use my plastic grocery bags for garbage so every week or so, I actually want to get the plastic bags so I have something for my garbage. Try to be somewhat 'green' when I can.
clever! when I saw the pics, I had to know what it was. I love the liner, they look like good ideas for grocery bags. most of our grocery stores now charge 5 cents for plastic bags. their way to make a profit on the environmental trend.
No tutorial or patter or anything. Pillows are pretty easy since you just basically sew in a straight line and make a rectangle. The hidden zipper part can be a bit tricky, but you don't have to put in a zipper; you can just leave one end open, stuff it, then fold over and sew it shut.
They are honestly quite easy to make (but a real pain to stuff!)
