1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Mary Engelbreit Accent Pillows on: July 21, 2012 10:39:27 AM
I made these Mary Engelbreit accent pillows yesterday.  Saw the fabric and thought it was super cute.  The pillows are 2-sided print, have invisible-style zippers, and the covers are removable for easy washing.   Grin

2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Pink Hello Kitty Robe on: July 18, 2012 03:47:57 PM
I made this Hello Kitty robe today.  It fits a 12-18 month old.  It was a fun project, and relatively simple.

Thanks for looking!!
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Boy and Girl Dog Hoodie Shirts on: July 18, 2012 05:50:07 AM
I haven't been on here in forever.  We recently bought a house, so I've been occupied with that - but I finally broke out the sewing machine this week!  I found a pattern for a dog hoodie, and decided to try it and change each one up a bit.  I had my bulldog Georgie model them for your amusement.  lol

I've only done size Medium so far (18-35 lbs), but I think I'm going to make some Small and X-Small too.

Thanks for looking!
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My amateur painting skills... on: September 02, 2010 12:25:47 PM
I actually did these paintings a couple of years ago.  I came across these pictures when I was cleaning out my e-mail this week.

I was playing around with paint... definitely nothing too impressive here, but I had a good time.   Grin  I need to try my hand at it again - maybe once I finish school and have time for such craftiness.

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Remodeled and Refreshed Bathroom on: March 08, 2010 11:20:36 AM

So in the next few months I will be moving in with my boyfriend of 3 years.  He has been living in a duplex for the past 9 years or so, and I will be moving into his place while I finish school.   Smiley

Being that we both have to get up and head out the door around the same time, I have decided to "take over" his spare bathroom... and make it my own.   Smiley  As you can see from the before pictures, this bathroom had been virtually abandoned.  Even when it was clean, there were mineral stains in the tub... the old wallpaper was beginning to lift and peel away from the wall near the tub... the blinds were old... there was no light fixture over the light bulbs... and the list goes on.

Anyhow, here are the BEFORE pictures:

The stained tub... ewwwwwwwwwww

My renovations:  I sanded and varnished the cabinets, put a texture paint on the walls, painted the ceiling white and the walls a vanilla color, used a LOT of CLR and spent a LOT of time getting the tub cleaned out, put a wood and rock border around the tub, painted the borders brown, added new blinds and fixtures... as well as a medicine cabinet.  Finally, threw in a new rug and some towels and... Voila!!  It was a LOT of work... but I love taking showers in my new "fancy" bathroom.  haha   Cheesy

And here are the AFTER pictures:

Clean tub!!

I'm so glad it's all done!!   Grin
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Creepy Cool Photography on: June 17, 2009 02:48:38 PM
These are pictures that a local photographer (and acquaintance of my sister) did of my niece, Cezanne.  She had asked to use my niece as a subject for her work... and I think they look amazing, even though I'm a biased Auntie.   Wink

Although I didn't take the pictures myself, I think they are too neat not to share.   Grin  I am very proud of the great job my niece did of role-playing for the pictures as well.   Grin

The photographer is Darla Teagarden:

7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Hello Kitty Robe on: February 23, 2009 09:51:09 AM
My best friend just had a baby in November, and I haven't even been able to see her yet!  Sad (I'm in TX, she's in WI)

Anyhow, I've been making the baby (her name is Naveah) outfits when I can find the time and shipping them up there.  I finally get to go for a visit, so I wanted to make something to bring along.  I found this cute Hello Kitty material, so decided to make her a little bath robe out of it.  I wanted the lining to be a little bit "clashy" but still compliment the colors of the fabric.  I also made a little matching hat with her name on the front.   Grin  Here goes:

Comments, criticism welcome.   Wink

I finally made it up to MN and WI for a visit at the end of February, and these are a few pictures of her actually IN the robe.   Smiley  She is the happiest baby I've ever seen... I'm just in love with her.   Grin

8  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Italian Lasagna - yummy recipe in under an hour on: December 22, 2008 08:11:45 AM
So I decided to finally try this lasagna recipe last night.  It ended up being really good, so I thought I'd share.   Grin  It's easy, and takes a reasonable amount of time.

I made a caesar salad and garlic bread on the side:

LasagnaStuff to get:
Box of lasagna noodles
1-2 lg jars spaghetti sauce
1-2 C ricotta cheese - reg or low fat
1 lb of grated mozzarella cheese
Parmaesan cheese - grated
Optional - add some frozen spinach after it is mostly thawed
Optional - add some browned ground beef to sauce
9 X 13 inch pan
12 lg lasagna noodles cook them 1/2 way about 6 min - add a tbs of oil.
Rinse and drain with cold water so they don't stick.
You can add some thawed spinach to ricotta cheese and mix.
The 13 steps to follow:
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Spread a little sauce on bottom of pan.
3. Cover with 1 layer of noodles (1/3 of them).
4. Place mounds of ricotta/spin mix here and there (1/2 of batch).
5. Cover with 1/3 spac sauce.
6. Cover with 1/2 of the mozarella.
7. Cover with next 1/3 noodles.
8. Add remaining ricotta.
9. Another 1/3 sauce.
10. Remaining mozzarella.
11. Cover with noodles.
12. Cover with sauce (don't skimp on the topping).
13. Sprinkle with Parmesan over the top.
Bake 45-50 min depending on your oven. If it begins to brown too much cover with foil.

And although I'm not a big fan of apple pie, it sounded good on a cold night so we had this for dessert...

Now aren't you hungry?!   Grin
9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Dallas Cowboys Footie Pajamas on: October 05, 2008 08:43:32 PM
These were a request from an expectant mommy who's boyfriend LOVES the Dallas Cowboys... I'm not a big football fanatic, but it was a request so I was happy to oblige.   Grin  With Winter coming, I thought fleece would be nice and warm.  I used some of the extra material to make a little hat as well.   Smiley

This was my second attempt at baby clothing... I'm going to do one more baby girl outfit using this pattern and some cute material I found, then it's time to master a new pattern.   Wink

10  COOKING / Dessert / Beach Bear Cupcakes on: July 07, 2008 07:25:55 AM
We bbq'd on the 4th of July, and I made these for my niece and the other kids... they were a hit!  There was a room full of little smiles covered in blue frosting.   Cheesy

I saw these, and had to try them - they're so cute.  I used buttercream frosting, with blue food coloring for the water... and put the teddy grahams on lifesaver innertubes.  I also drew on little shorts and bikinis. haha Cheesy You can also make them covered in graham cracker crumbs, to look like sand... I'll try those next time.   Wink
