Wow, that is really awesome!  I didn't know it had the loops in the center.  Thank you for sharing this pattern on the other thread!  I'll definitely try it out and leave some feedback.

BTW, the yarn you picked for the shamrock you made me is my absolute favorite color, so kudos and thank you again!

Here are the motifs craftADDchick made for me!

First row:
1. Worked in the round
2. Heritage motif (shamrock)
3. Uses bobble stitches
Second row:
1. Smaller than three inches
2. Asymmetrical
3. 3 shades/tones of one color

They're beautiful!  I love the shamrock, the tiny flower, the orange wheel, and the large 3 shade ones in particular but they're all really cool.

Sorry I forgot to mention which motif was which on the ones I sent:
1. Sender's Choice (I just liked this one a lot) - pattern: http://www.geocities.com/cdjsimon/flower_burst.html
2. Flower motif - pattern: http://www.geocities.com/alyssa5000/flowersq.html
3. Worked in rounds - pattern: http://www.crochetnmore.com/grannysquare.htm
4. Front post double crochet - pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/springtime-coasters
5. Lacy (after I made this one it wasn't as lacy as I thought it would be but it was so pretty that I just kept it) - pattern: http://www.jpfun.com/patterns/free/coasters/f108002littlehexagonmotif.shtml
6. Bobble stitches - pattern: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/60153.html

5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Lye shortage! Batch ruined? on: July 12, 2009 02:51:06 PM
Ariaya - What is a salt bar?  I'm assuming it's a bar with salt in it but I'm unfamiliar with that practice and I'm curious!  Have you done it?

Nymeria - I thought it might have something to do with the high olive oil content.  I've wanted to try castile soaps before but I'm intimidated by them for just this reason!  I've had batches go rancid on me before and it's always such a let down.  I'll see how this goes.  Thanks for the tips!

I'll give it some time and see what happens.  It's a four pound batch, so I didn't think 3 grams of lye would make a big difference but I wasn't sure.

I don't typically use that much castor oil but this kind of ended up being a "use up leftovers" batch and I really had to fudge the numbers some.

I was just curious if anyone else had run across this issue before.  I'm hoping it will dry out some and I'll be able to use it for personal use.

Thank you for your tips!

This is so pretty!  I need a new bag but haven't been able to find a pattern I'm totally crazy about but I think I'll give this one a try!

Ok, I won't bore you with the details but basically I got mixed up and shorted the lye in my CP batch by about 3 grams.  I had already superfatted to 7% so I guess now it's SUPER superfatted.  I've unmolded it and it's kind of slimy and moist which I'm assuming is from the unsaponified oils.

My question is this: is this batch salvageable?  Should I shred it and try to rebatch?  Is it usable as is or will it dry out if I give it enough time?

My recipe was 50% olive oil, 40% coconut oil, and 10% castor.  I've never made soap with this high an olive oil content.  Could that be part of the problem?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks, guys!
