I knitted these in a matter of days because the pattern was so fun and addictive!  I couldn't wait to see how they would look when finished.



The pattern is "Selbu Mittens" from the book Folk Mittens.  The yarn is good ol' Cascade 220.

Unies?  You mean the panties?  Or...?

If you were referring to the panties, I bought them then sewed the trim on.

I remember someone talking about this in the YKYACW topic (the 300+ page one, not the second one), but they called them lavendar wands. 

Yah, I know them as lavendar wands also.  They are so much fun to make!  I used to make them with my mom when I was a little girl!

The directions in that book make sock knitting so easy!

I agree!  I tried a lot of other books and patterns and could never understand what they wanted me to do.  But now that I've knitted a few from this book, all those other patterns make a lot more sense now.

Haha yes.  It's a big ice block with a curvy-shaped channel cut into it (with a router) and then you pour shots from the top and they run down the channel to your mouth at the bottom.  I suppose it's really kind of gross... but fun at parties.

Well I cast on my Cherie Amour last night (finally!) and knit the first row -- then frogged it.

 

I was using these circular needles I'd bought on eBay.  I've gotten straits (in 2 lengths) and DPNs from the same seller and love them -- but his circulars are no good.  The "cord" is essentially rubber aquarium hose.  Ugh.  So I'm going to the LYS tonight and picking up some Addi Turbos.  I'm doing this right this time, dang it.

One silly question though -- I've never knit from a chart.  I understand normally when you knit, you read row 1 from right to left, row 2 from left to right, etc.  However, in this case because we're using circulars, is the chart read from right to left on EVERY row?  I *assumed* that was the case, but I figured I'd make sure before I made a mess and had to frog a bunch of work.

I am ABSOLUTELY interested.  I'll keep an eye on this thread!  I can't wait!!!

@Avian Flight - I can't wait to see yours!  I agree, I was very intimidated by the idea of sock-knitting, but once I found directions that "clicked" in my mind, it was like, "Wow this isn't so bad after all!"
