Hi

Not only am I a newbie here, but I am a newbie with machine sewing things. I did a bit a couple of years ago, so know the basics, and have borrowed my mum's sewing machine for an undisclosed amount of time (basically til she needs it!). I really want to make a skirt but I'm rubbish at following patterns, so was thinking of making a simple elasticated waist skirt.
Is this going to look any good, or should I try and make a panel skirt instead?
If I should, how do I go about doing it?

Also, just behind the rag market as you come from the Bullring is the indoor market, which has a couple of fabric stalls, and also a craft stall right at the far end where you can get pretty much anything (apart from beads) that you need for making/finishing things off, staff vary between sour as old grapes and really helpful!
