3  ribbing question.. in Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions by punikum on: August 04, 2008 08:55:03 PM
Hi,
my question is for the following pattern (From Ottobrre) - is calls for ribbing, and I'm not sure what it is? a different colour of knit fabric? a special band?
I want to start working on my daughters' fall clothes... this looks easy enough, if only I know what they mean...

thanks!

4  more NL 6613 in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by punikum on: August 02, 2008 08:40:54 PM
I love this pattern :-)
this time I made the exact same dress for my daughter and my niece.  my niece is is 9 YO, so I made the largest size for her and it fit!
in the picture her dress is not finished yet - bacuse I needed to see that it fit and that there was no need to lengthen it...
anyway - they are both happy :-)
my daughter:

and my niece (I finished her dress with a white bias tape - my sister didn;t like the red finish on my daughter's dress)

I don;t have any more of this fabric left :-(

5  nice top - simlicity pattern in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by punikum on: August 02, 2008 08:36:37 PM
I don't recall the number of the pattern, but I've this top before in polka dots, which I can;t wear. now I made it with more wearable fabric, except it's very poor quality, it wrinkles as I sit! this sohould teach me not to but the cheapest fabric in the store :-)
anyway - I made the neck as instructed and then thought I'd like to better it if was black - with a bias tape, but it didn;t come out right because I already sewed the neck band... but it's not too bad I think. Let me know what you think...

6  S3732 - shirt - are there dress codes for women???? in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by punikum on: July 26, 2008 08:35:57 PM
First, thanks so much to MacesMeMe for the great explanantions!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I made the shirt without a problem! :-)
Now, as much as I lovee it, and I intend to make at least one more like it - I showed the shirt to my sisters yesterday and they both said I can;t go with that... the colours are all wrong (too childish).
Is there a rule for a women in her 30s to wear only boring prints?Huh?? I don;t feel that OLD!!!!
really, would you wear this print?

(I used black bias tape, because I sisn;t have a better colour - next time I make the shirt I'll make sure the colour is right)

thanks,
Punikum

8  first successfull shirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by punikum on: July 12, 2008 11:25:50 AM
well, this is my first fitting shirt! took me so long... (and four tries). this is a fabric I planned for my girls' dresses, but since I didn;t want to waist more expensive fabric, I used this.
I don't know if it'll be a work shirt, because of the colours, but at least it fits! (well, it dosen;t look as nice on me as it does in the picture in the pattern, but that's probably my fault.. I just don's have that body)
the pattern is NL 6294. I'm planning to make it again in a more solid fabric, and then off to another shirt :-)
I had som eissues with hemming the sleeves... since they are curved, hemming them (I folded them twice and stitched) was very difficult. is there any other way???
the pictures are

9  first Ottober pattern in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by punikum on: June 28, 2008 08:42:11 PM
made it for my 18 monthes old. actually - I planned making something else for my first Ottobre pattern, but had to delay it since I didn;t find the right fabric...
anyhow - I still need to add bloomers.
this is from 2/2005 issue. I had some problems - the skirt should have been wider - but I didn;t have enough of the pink fabric so I shorted the bands a lot. also - the pink fabric is kind of stiff, and when I took out the thread I used foe the gathering, it left tiny holes in the fabric. never happened to me before...
this is the third dress pattern I ever made... and she's real happy with it :-)

I hope I understood how to upload the pictures...
