Love it... I love the size, what dimensions did you cut your fabric for bag and straps...

I used my 12.5" square grid to cut the body (with 1.5inch cuts out of the corner like the jordy bag).  I think the straps are cut 21 inches.

And I remembered the snap this time hehe.  First time doing a zipper and it was very easy.

Next time I think I would add stabilizer to the outside.

337  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / What was placemats, now is bag :D on: January 18, 2009 11:35:46 AM
I saw these placemats and napkin at Fabricland and it was 50% off.  Total cost was $20.  The placemat backing was stiff enough to act as interfacing so that worked out well.

I used the "Jordy bag" pattern.  But I forgot the snap.  I get a little zoned sometimes.  :p  So I pleated the ends a bit to give more structure.

Love it!  I still can't imagine trying to machine quilt shapes like that.  I have a hard enough time with a grid!

I believe I had the 1/4 inch seam allowance drawn on the template but used a ruler to draw it on the fabric before I cut.

Can't wait to see your quilt!
