1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 2009 Holiday Handmade Crusade :: Formerly the "All Year Christmas Craft-a-long" on: January 05, 2009 06:52:35 PM
I'm ready to this.  Every year I say that I'm going to get started earlier and be done earlier but left to my own devises...and forgetfulness...I end up rushing to get things done right up til the end.  Hopefully with the help of this crusade I'll actually have a restful winter holiday.   Grin
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Reconned Star Wars onesie on: December 14, 2008 05:17:54 PM
My hubby is a HUGE Star Wars geek, in fact, he runs around in Sandtrooper armor on weekends.  So we have a lot of Star Wars events that we go to.  Seeing that there is a severe lack of SW themed onesies out there I decided to make a few out of some kid's onesies I picked up.  This is the fist one that I've finished so far.  I used a pattern I had already and just cut the pieces from the tee.

So cute! I know a couple little darlings who would love this.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Wee baby boy pants on: December 07, 2008 07:32:51 PM
I had thought about leaving the cuff as is and cutting the pant lower on the sleeve, but then I thought the slit coming up from the cuff might look too girly.  Plus it would have gone half way up the pantleg...this is sized for a 3 month old. Smiley

I remembered seeing these pants http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=278862.0 a while back and while trying to decide how to recon a men's shirt I decided to see if I could make something similar.

These are my version.  I put the pants out of the sleeves.  Removed the cuffs and attached them to the bottom of the pants.

I finally got some action shots of my son wearing these, so I thought I'd add them.  I made the onesie as well out of a kid's t-shirt.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: me vs. the blue blue sweater on: December 07, 2008 06:41:09 PM
I have been inspired so many times by reading your posts.  I love the footed pants and will have to fashion something like that for my little guy.  Bonus, that all that was made from a saved sweater.   Grin

Thank you for all the nice compliments!  It was a lot of fun to make and I'm itching to make some more for him.

I made this little onesie for my son's first Thanksgiving.  I'm still getting the hang of applique but have a ton of fun playing with it.   Cool

Cute skirt.  I'm sure your SIL will love it.  I like how you divided the image in the front and back.  As a Star Wars fan myself, I'd difinitely wear this to any of my hubby's 501st troops.  Grin

I love this idea.  I have an 11 year old boy and it's been frustrating trying to find cute ideas for him as he grew up.  I have a 7 week old boy as well now and I'm hoping to have better luck making him some clothes.  I'm definitely gonna have to give this a try with some of my thrift store finds.
