1  Kitty Brooches! in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by applesweet on: June 17, 2012 09:34:28 AM

Hi there! I just wanted to show off a big project I've been working on for about a week. I was bored a on a Friday night and saw a little cat brooch on Instagram and decided I would make one of my own. After some experiments I finally came up with these little guys and I made a bunch of them!
Now I'm obsessed. I have 7 new blocks of clay and I'm going to make a million more! They're so fun to make and I love how unique each one ends up being. Right now they're all designed to be brooches (just need to glue to pin backs on) but I'm going to make some smaller ones for necklaces and barettes! I need to wear cats all over my body!

2  Luna P Necklace (Sailor Moon) in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by applesweet on: August 25, 2011 09:14:53 PM
I did a personal swap with a friend and made this little necklace for her. It's based on Chibi Moon's Luna P ball. I think it came out really well and just wanted to share.

I burnt the clay a little and went out of a limb with some acrylic paint. I had no idea that was even an option for polymer clay!

The rest of the stuff I made her and you can see the size of the necklace.

Thanks for looking!

3  Sailor Jupiter Tote! in Needlework: Completed Projects by applesweet on: August 25, 2011 08:53:03 PM
I did a personal swap with a friend and stitched this up for her. It's on a canvas tote bag that I dyed green and based on this picture. It took about Season 2 of Parks and Recreation, Season 5 of Supernatural, a couple of movies, and a hand full of Futurama episodes to complete, but I think it was totally worth it.  Wink Definitely one of my favorite projects.

You can see the rest of the stuff I made her in this picture.

Some close ups of the stitches.

Thanks for looking!

4  Sailor Moon/Sailor V Swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by applesweet on: July 11, 2011 08:12:47 AM

I thought with the re-release of the manga AND the first US publication of Codename Sailor V, it would be the perfect time to get a swap going for all of us itchy, awaiting fans! Anybody interested?
I wouldn't mind organizing but I've never done it before so if anyone else could or if anyone could just help, that'd be awesome too!

5  Help Resizing a Dress in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by applesweet on: March 04, 2011 04:58:21 PM

I bought this blue dress on the left today and I love it, it's so cute, but it's just a smidge too tight in the bust. The fabric has absolutely no give to it and it's serged so there's not a ton of extra fabric so I don't think I can let it out.

I was thinking of added a little panel on each side of the top part of the dress but it might look dumb. I also thought a complete reconstruction of the top into a tank top or a v-neck might allow for more room for my boobs, which are essentially the reason it doesn't fit (They're not even big!). I wanted to talk to some smarter sewers first before I started hacking this thing up. Does anyone have any ideas about how to make it bigger in the bust?

6  Birds! in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by applesweet on: December 15, 2010 07:40:27 PM

I needed a cheap, quick way to make some ornaments and threw these together. I love them!! The cardinal looks so good, if you don't mind me saying so  Wink and I am just so excited about them! I'm going to make a million more! I just need to think of more cool birds. Anyone have any suggestions?

This was also to first time I used the gloss sealant on any of my polymer projects and I just love the way it looks. I can't believe I waited so long to try it!

7  Envelopes from a 60's Puberty Book - Maybe NSFW? in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by applesweet on: December 15, 2010 07:35:44 PM

I found this 1967 book on puberty in a thrift store and thought the illustrations were so great that I couldn't pass it up. I knew I wanted to do something with it but couldn't quite think of what exactly until last week I realized I could make really excellent envelopes out of the pages! I wish I had more pen pals because I would love to mail these out.
I'm also really into this and have been looking for more crap books with great illustrations so turn into stationary. I've got my fingers crossed for kitty and dinosaur envelopes!

8  Dog Painting and Some XMas Cards in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by applesweet on: December 15, 2010 07:32:32 PM

This is a dog I painted last week or so. I am still getting used to working with acrylic paints but I think this turned out pretty okay? It doesn't feel entirely done, if you know what I mean, but I'm nervous about working on it more. I don't want to ruin it!

I watercolor painted all of my Christmas cards this year. As you can see with the last 3, I got lazy toward the end! Coming up with ideas for each and every friend is tough so I just repeated this muscle man a few times since he was my favorite. The Christmas tree was fun to make, too, though.

9  My Favorite is Being Discontinued! What's Your Go-To Brand? in Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions by applesweet on: December 06, 2010 06:55:57 PM

I LOVED Studio Sculpey. It was rich, soft, easy to work with, the colors stayed vivid after baking and the color selection was absolutely gorgeous. I went into Hobby Lobby today and was heartbroken to see they had none. I assumed they just stopped carrying it, hoping for the best, but later when I checked the Sculpey website, sure enough they aren't making it anymore  Cry Cry

So I'm in the market for a new brand and I figured I'd ask: What's your favorite kind of clay? Where do you buy it from? Why do you love it?

10  Squids! in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by applesweet on: November 26, 2010 08:41:34 PM
I've spent the last week and a half making these little guys and I wanted to show them off! I'm really proud of them, but in the process of making them I think I've figured out a different way I'd like to make them, so my next batch will be like..Squids Version 2.0! I'm really excited to experiment now that I'm getting better with this stuff and I'm going to make my mother in law a Christmas squid ornament. I think these would be so sweet on a Christmas tree! Christmas doesn't have enough sea creatures!
