1  COOKING / Dessert / Muffins for my brandnew whatnot on: October 13, 2009 04:10:09 AM
Hello fellow Craftsters,

I always wanted to have a whatnot and now, for my 22nd birthday, i finally got one from my lovely bf.
And what is better to induct a whatnot than a bunch of jummy muffins? Nothing of course. So we made cherry muffins with a shot of my good 15year-old whisky and lemon frosting. What do you think of them?

I made these cuties a while ago and thought it'd be nice to share. I was inspired by Lindt chocolates (http://picnicb.ciao.com/de/14725357.jpg). I wear them with a silver necklace, so I can change switch them.









And these earrings... I don't know. I guess I'm obsessed with sweets Wink

I've always loves all those cute little plushies but I'm not very good at sewing so I hesitated a looong time. But today I gave it a try and came up with a sunny side up egg plushie and an ice cream cone with "chocolate sauce" and pearl-"sprinkles". What do you think of them? Do you think I will get better at this? I don't really like the ice cream cone :/ I don't know... Anyway: pics!

Yaaay! I just finished my first soap ever! I just melted glycerin soap, so I didn't really make the soap, although I'd like to try that too, but I scented the white part with vanilla. The other part of the soap is colored and scented with cocoa powder. I added native coconut oil for better smell. I hope you like it Smiley

I never ate cinnamon rolls in my entire life before, but I read so much about them and they looked so delicious... I had to try them! I found the recipe here: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cinnamon-Rolls-II-2/Detail.aspx
However I decided to post the recipe here, too, although it is not my recipe. I hope I'm allowed to do so, but I personally hate to be directed to other sides for tutes, so I'll simply post it:

INGREDIENTS (24 servings)
    * 1 cup milk
    * 1/2 cup butter
    * 1 cup water
    * 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
    * 1 cup white sugar
    * 1 teaspoon salt
    * 2 eggs
    * 6 cups all-purpose flour
   
    * 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    * 2 cups dark brown sugar
    * 1/2 cup butter, softened
   
    * 2 cups confectioners' sugar
    * 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
    * 1 tablespoon butter, softened
    * 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    * 3 tablespoons milk

DIRECTIONS

1. Warm the milk in a small saucepan until it bubbles, then remove from heat. Mix in the butter; stir until melted. Add water and let cool until lukewarm.

2. In a large bowl, combine the milk mixture, yeast, white sugar, salt, eggs and 2 cups flour; stir well to combine. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.

3. Divide dough into two pieces. Roll each piece into a 12x9 inch rectangle. In a bowl, stir together the cinnamon and brown sugar. Spread each piece with half of the butter, half of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. Roll up dough, using a little water to seal the seam.

4. Cut each roll into 12 slices using a very sharp knife or dental floss. Place rolls onto two 9x13 inch greased baking pans. Cover and let rise until almost doubled, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

5. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.

6. To make frosting; combine confectioner's sugar, cream cheese, butter and vanilla. Add milk gradually until frosting reaches a spreading consistency. Spread over warm (but not hot) cinnamon rolls.

Hey there Smiley
I wrote a lot of exams during the past week and so I somehow forgot to go shopping. I only had store bought potato dumplings, cream, canned mushrooms, onions and instant gravy. So of course the single student called mum and she helped me out with a wonderful recipe:

Ingredients (for one person Wink):
- 1 onion
- 1 small can mushrooms
- 7 fl. oz. (200ml) cream
- tbs butter
- pepper, salt, paprika powder
- 1 cube instant gravy (i don't know if you got instant gravy cubes, as well, but one cube is for half a cup liquid)

Melt the butter in a pan and chop the onion. Add the onion and wait until they are glazed. Pour off the water from the mushrooms and add them to the pan. Reduce the heat and let it braise for about 15 minutes. Then add as much salt, pepper and paprika powder as you like. I suggest you to try some shrooms while you season, but don't forget that you will add cream later on, which needs to be flavoured, too! Stir well, braise for another 5 minutes and then add the cream. Raise the temperature until the sauce cooks and add the instant gravy cube. Stir well and wait for it to dissolve. Try some of the sauce and add some season if it's not spicy enough.

I especially like to eat the sauce together with potato dumplings, escalope, chicken tenderloin, but there are other good combinations for sure Smiley

Hey fellow craftsters!
This is the very first hat I ever knitted and I'm a bit proud of it. I got the book "boutique knits" as a christmas present and couldn't wait to try this pattern. Though I had to use a different yarn, it turned out quite well, I think. I imagined the yarn to be more grey than beige when I ordered it on the internet, but well. I hope the hat doesn't make me look like a granny in this color?! :/

 I saw this baby snow dragon and knew it was perfect for a girl I study with because she always wanted a crocheted animal for herself. And also she is obsessed with green things. so I crocheted it for her to give it to her as a christmas present. I'm really happy that she likes it Smiley

I didn't crochet the spikes on its back because I was running out of time, but it looks like my friend liked it anyway Cheesy
The sheep was a present for another girl I study with. It is for her keychain. She loves sheep and already worked half a year in iceland on a sheep farm so it seemed to be the perfect present for her.

I made some completely homemade chocolate chip and orange cupcakes and when I finished them, I found some marzipan and food colouring lying around. And hm... yeah that is what came out! Sadly, I didn't have chocolate chips left over, so I couldn't make them look hairy Grin
