21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Apocalyptic Fashion Swap Round 2 Sign ups 08/20/11 - 09/03/11;send by 10/08/11 on: September 08, 2011 08:37:23 PM
I just wanted to say that whoever got ClonedBravo as a partner is a lucky duck. I just did a personal swap with her, and she is awesome! She made me a cute little wallet in gryffindor inspired colors that I am going to dress up with a gryffindor patch, and she even sent me an extra little bag along because its lining reminded her of the invisibility cloak. Now my appetite for all things Harry Potter has been satisfied, and I was able to send her some of the extra fabric samples that I had (and still have more of if anyone's interested).

I'd swap trying to lead a group project of 17 people for teaching 25 kindergartners any day.

Well, first off, those are just awesome. Great paint job.

Second, I am not feeling very well today, and I am kind of out of it, so when I first saw the thumbnail I thought it was a mini top hat, which I quickly realized it wasn't. But that made my creative juices start flowing and now I really want to pull out my old dental molds and make a mini top hat out of zombie teeth and fake brains.

The downtown area of where I live has about six blocks of antique shops and upper-class thrift stores. I usually avoid those. The best thrift shops here are the ones run by local charities and churches (there are probably around 30 different ones). They are all very cheap, and often contain a lot of new or nearly new items that have been donated. We also have three (maybe four) goodwills in the area, two of which are huge. The biggest one get's most of its clothes from big name stores like dillards, target, and jcpenney, so you can get brand new clothes there (still with tags) for just a couple bucks. It's surprising, really, how many thrift and antique stores that we have here when you consider that my city is actually kind of small.

Saturday I am going thrift store and yard sale shopping for supplies so that I can really get the ball rolling. Hope my partner doesn't think that I am going a bit too literal apocalypse for my big item.

I feel your pain! I'm only into the second week of school, and already I have three papers to write.
On the plus side, I did finish an item today. It's small....only an extra that I plan on throwing in. But it is cute, and it is finished.

Oh dear, it appears as though my jaw has dropped off and fallen to the floor. That is absolutely gorgeous, and I love your whole color scheme. The decorations are just spot on.

Those are awesome! Such a great idea.

I've been wanting to make some simple headbands out of some leftover jersey fabric that I have. These look very cute and versatile. Did you use a tutorial, or did you just wing it?

I have a couple of .50 cal. machine gun shells. They are quite large and really awesome. Also some .40s and .45s, and of course, the itty bitty .22s. Not sure how many I will include in my items, but there will most likely be a few.
