1  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Rnd 5 - Color Spectrum Gallery!! (Send 6/6/11) in The Swap Gallery by savage pixie on: May 26, 2011 09:07:16 PM
I received an amazing hoop from mezcraft last night!
She took my love of the Tree of Life and added everything I love to it!!!
An octopus, pterodactly, stegosaurus, gnome, ankh, Eye of Ra, turtle, seahorse and yarn! There might be more I haven't seen too, haha.
I didn't see the yarn and needles until I took the photo of it.

What tiny little stitches she used! And I love how personal it is - amazing!

2  Dodos! in Needlework: Completed Projects by savage pixie on: April 02, 2011 02:40:41 PM
So I know that when the Hoopla swap gallery starts up, this board fills up too. But I wanted to share my hoops that I made for jungrrl.
A lot of work (and cussing) went into these hoops.
Mostly because it's really hard to find a good picture of a Dodo to use for reference, let alone a baby Dodo, haha. I spent many hours sketching out a baby Dodo attempting to make it look real and like it would have actually come from the adult Dodo and not a cartoon, ha.

So this is what I came up with. I did lots of blending with multiple colors of floss and did just the slightest amount of tinting.
It was my first time tinting (I used colored pencils) and I am very happy with the way it came out!

Hope you like them.  Smiley

And the two together...

So finally getting around to posting my amazing hoops from jungrrl!
(Sorry, it's been a crazy few days in the Savage household, ha.)

Here they are - in all their awesome Doctor Who glory!
She actually KNIT the scarf and then stitched it onto the hoops. It's so awesome - and I can't wait to hang them up. I think they will go on my wall in my craft wall!
Thank you jungrrl! I am so happy were paired together!

Oooh oooh, it's my turn!!! I came home tonight from a particularly crappy day and I was delighted and instantly uplifted when I opened my package from Barbolot.

She make me the tiniest cutest little seahorse. The tiny little stitches are so perfect and it was just perfect for me and my wall.
Thank you  Grin

I received an awesome hoop from imafundork today! I love it so much.
I wanted something crafty themed to go in my studio and this is perfect! All of the stitching (aside from the black words - which are beautifully done) is in metallics!

I received from gamemom42.
She got it dead on - I love trees and I love buttons - how perfect. The buttons are great - so much fun. And she did a great job filling in the tree trunk, it's beautiful.

Thank you so much!!!

7  My incredibly comfy summer dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by savage pixie on: July 15, 2010 06:43:54 PM
I found this beautiful green jersey and I immediately knew what it was to become...well sort of, haha.
This is the result of a day in my sewing room - sewing and trying on and sewing and trying on...
I made the pattern up as I went - fitting it to exactly what I wanted.

It's just insanely comfortable and so nice to wear.

Please excuse my grimace  Undecided

I'm so glad that you like the shirts psychonmemphis! They were lots of fun, and I'm pretty sure I need a kitty shirt too (though I'm a lame crazy cat lady compared to you! haha).

The shirts are from Target. The black tee that I sent you is so comfy. I think I have one in every color possible!

Here is a clear close up of the kitty.
She's got attitude  Wink

I received an awesome package from psychonmemphis yesterday! She did a great job and I can't wait to wear them.

First up - the cutest little octopi. The top fits a little big, but I can make it work. It's freaking adorable!!!

And then, I think this is my favorite. Super simple, but so cute. And she actually altered the tee to make it into a halter. (And the scissors have glitter!!!)

And then this is the ribbed tank that got a little mashed up in the washer, but it's still cute. I will still totally rock it.

Thank you psychonmemphis! Everything is so great  Grin

If I have any energy later when someone gets home, I'll take an action shot or two.
