1  website design. in Completed Projects by aladine on: March 28, 2009 10:19:22 AM

my bf is a jazz musician and has a really cool project. he built a website to collect resources to learn about jazz music,-not history of jazz but music theory and how to practice and that kind of thing.  he's good at programming but wanted some assistance in the art department.

warning: i have absolutely no clue whatsoever about web design
i used inkscape, which is an open source version of illustrator. i had worked with the program like 2 times before, and i am less than confident about all the little buttons... Smiley

hope you like. this is just the "frame" of the website
the layout is all in the whitish part....

i also made a lighter minty version

oops, i jsut noticed i kinda moved something on the green one. it doesnt matter, he is not going to be able to use them anyway, because they are way too big (200 kb)

which one do you find better?

c&c are very welcome. like i said, i have no clue about web design

2  illustration friday? first submission in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by aladine on: September 02, 2008 05:15:59 AM
does anybody participate in illo friday?
i usually only lurk, but this week the topic  (memories) fitted to what i was doing, so i submitted.... i was kinda disappointed, i swear my camera doesn't do it justice, it almost didn't capture the color pencil at all.. but whatever, im not too keen on it anyway...

id love to see what you have done, or to hear if you post regularly.. maybe somebody out there knows about a similar but smaller site. its just way too full, over 450 submissions and it was monday night when i checked. (they post a new topic every friday)

comments and constructive criticism always welcome.

have a nice day everybody, thanks for looking

(if for any weird reason anybody were interested, i have a pic with a higher resolution which is a bit better)

3  more seeds and cotton necklaces in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by aladine on: September 02, 2008 04:31:33 AM
Well, everybody said such nice things about the necklaces i posted here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=266592.0, that i decided to post some more!

the last pic is one of the bags we made to put them in... (matches with one necklace i haven't posted, i think) i love it when i buy something and it has its own little place to be kept in. it wasn't hard to find coordinating fabric, since the necklaces are so colorful.

have a nice day, everybody!

4  cotton and seeds: necklaces from the mexican highlands in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by aladine on: September 01, 2008 01:56:35 PM
Hello everybody!
My aunt made these using seeds and beans (most of them dyed) and cotton floss, or embroidery thread which she bought on a trip to the Mexican highlands of the Southeast. She gave me a couple of them to wear, and it was really funny, because I wanted to keep them, but everytime i wore one people on the street asked where I had bought it, and when they heard they were handmade they begged to have them, which had never happened to me before. I guess it must be the exotic factor here in good ole Germany.

On to the pics.
I'd love comments or constructive criticism Smiley

ps: i posted some more here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=266716.0

5  Plastic Bag Wristlet (1st post) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by aladine on: July 11, 2008 03:32:13 PM
HEllo Everybody!!
i made this out of white and orange plastic bags that i get when i go to the market.. i also used a bit of ribbon and novelty yarn.

the zipper looks kind of wonky on the pic, but its actually ok,... its hard sewing on plastic, so i just hand stitched it instead of risking accidents with the  machine.
