Hiiiiii Everyone!!

Beautiful jobs everyone has done! Everyone has some really nice colorways.

It's been a long time. I had to stop spinning and knitting for a while to focus on my classes. But my classes ended and now I am back and making up for lost time! Here is what I have worked on this past week. I was feeling adventurous, so I took a stab at some art yarn!!

I have a lot of this greenish-blueish roving, I love it. Nothing special here, just plied two singles.


Handcarded superwash with mohair that when I first got it, I thought was so ugly but turned out really nice! I spun a thin single and then plied it with blue and gold metallic thread

These are mill ends that I decided to try core spun with. I don't know if it came out right or not but I'm proud

I can't believe it's fiber friday (well saturday now) I completely forgot what day it was! I thought it was Thursday.

Anyways, I finished this two days ago. Some more Sheep Shed Studio specially dyed superwash. Of all the fiber colors I have this one is my absolute favorite. It's sooo pretty!





Nesse -  I love your corespun yarn. I would love to try that one of these days!

Hopefully better late than never. I've been too swamped with end of semester work.

First I finally got to spin a second single and ply the green superwash I showed like two weeks ago. It's 224 yards, my longest homespun so far!



This one was spun with the very colorful single from last week. The colorful single is wool and merino, a natural white single and a strand of metallic thread.



You can't really see the thread but it's in there and it's pretty!

Got some yarn to show off
Thenutmeg- I love love love your wine and orange yarn, so pretty!
knkurz- that green is pretty awesome. It reminds me of grass when it just starts to grow in the spring.

So I didn't have a chance to spin another single of that green colorway I was working with last week but I have a lovely lavender and some grey singles that I decided to ply together. I still don't have my jumbo flyer so I had to cut this yarn, I just couldn't fit anymore on my regular bobbin. Then while plying the on the second bobbin, the yarn ended up breaking because I was trying to get out a kink I gifted a small skein, it was about 57 yards. The big one is 126 yards, and the one next to it is 76 yards. I am calling it Dirty Unicorn.




I spun and plied this on my spindle. It's grey and a cream & brown mixed roving. I really like the way it turned out. 68 yards.





This is what I just finished spinning. It's made with fiber I carded myself, it's a wool and merino mix. I plan to use it for some art yarn.

I have only a single to post for now. Next week this will be plied I hope. I am still waiting on my jumbo flyer. I am thinking that I may try to cram a two ply on a regular bobbin. We'll see.
 
This is SSS specially dyed superwash.

I just got my spinning wheel on Wednesday, a Kromski Sonata named Queen Anne's Revenge (there is a story behind the name). SO here are pix of the wheel and of my first wheel spun yarn!

I also (for the first time) plied my spindle spun yarns together on my spindle but I am still finishing it so I guess I'll show it next week.

This is my first kool-aid dye. I bought a fishermans wool skein on etsy for 5 bux. I had to dye it twice. the first time there was a gradient to it so I redid it today and it looks great I dyed it in Black Cherry kool-aid. I don't know what I will do with it but it was fun.

Now to have get the courage to begin spinning my lovely roving for next fiber friday..

I just started sewing about 1 1/2 ago. This is my first messenger style bag. First project I am posting to the board. I loved this fabric! I drew out the tentacles and used them as a guide to cut out the shape and then hand drew the details.



It measures 11x15". Big enough to fit my laptop in but since it's made with cotton fabrics, won't be using it for that. I put muslin in between the layers of fabric. Just to make it a bit thicker and stronger.I made pockets with a tentacle coming out of one. Two big ones, three small ones to fit my drawing pens, crochet hooks and knitting needles. The inside has one pocket.



Used less than a half yard of each, even less for the hot pink and pink that I used for the tentacles. This was hard to make since I didn't use a pattern, so the seam ripper and I became good friends

Yesterday I took my daughter to Central Park to see DJ Lance and Brobee at Summerstage! WooHoo! Tons of Yo Gabba Gabba fun, loved that they played the song "Pick It Up!" It was awesome! DJ Lance was actually mixing on stage!!

Anywho, the night before I decided to make her a shirt to wear to the show. Well I didn't make the shirt, I just used a plain pink T I had laying around that she hadn't worn yet but I sewed on the felt!!!! It's MUNO doing what he likes to do best, eat noodles. The noodles is just a little bit of cream colored ribbon folded in half and sewed one end to the bowl and the other to the chopsticks so it sticks out in the middle so my little girl and feel the texture and gives a little 3D effect. I'm not the best at hand sewing but I love it!

She looked so cute with it and everyone was asking where I got her shirt!

So here the drawing for the pattern I made and the shirt!!! It was my first time, but I have ideas now about how I can make it easier for next time
