1  cd case jewelry? in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by notanotherxerox on: November 25, 2010 03:04:05 PM
Hi! I was going to post this in the Reusing/Recycling forum but there was no where to post questions so I figured here was the next best place, but sorry if I was wrong.
I saw these on a blog and was wondering if anyone can give me some ideas of what to cut the cd cases with. Everything I've tried has cracked the cd. And I like the thickness of the lines inside, they appear scored to me so I tried to do it with an Exacto knife but it turned out way too thin and scratched looking. Any ideas for how to do lines like that? I want to make a necklace using this idea but do different designs inside the square. Do you think it would be possible to do a heart or something like that?
Thanks for your time!

I'm new to crochet and this is the first pattern I've completed, it was a lot easier than I expected. Here's my little octopus:

This one shows her color better*

Thank you so much for the adorable pattern! I can't wait to make more of these!

3  Re: multiple sc in one chain stitch in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by notanotherxerox on: November 20, 2010 02:24:32 PM
Thank you all so much for your help and useful tips!!!! I was able to complete the pattern without any trouble after your help and ended up using a bobby pin as a stitch marker because it was what I had on me. Thank you!!!
I included a picture of my project because I think she turned out really cute and I'm so proud of finishing my first pattern.

This one shoes her color a little better.

Thanks for helping me make this little octopus!

4  etsy seller who makes baby shoes with cats on them? in Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions by notanotherxerox on: October 23, 2010 03:14:06 PM
Hi! I found these really cute baby shoes on etsy and saved the picture with the sellers name but then I accidentially renamed it and can't remember who makes them. They also come in a bear pattern and she makes a bunch of other shoes. I think she sells them as patterns also. Thanks for your time!

5  muslin voile substitute fabric? in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by notanotherxerox on: June 09, 2010 07:12:51 PM
Hi! I want to make a dress similar to this one, and it says its made from muslin voile put through an Indian crinkle process. I have no idea what the texture of the fabric is but it looks flowy. I have to shop online so I won't be able to feel the fabrics.

What kind of fabric can I buy that will be a good substitute for the crinkled muslin voile? The light, flowy look of the dress is what attracted me to it so thats mainly what I'm looking for in the fabric. Thank you so much for your time!

I received my amazing charm bracelet from zigg13pra this Saturday (the snow caused some delays for her). This bracelet couldn't be more perfect for me!!!! I've been wearing it nonstop since I got it, and she was so thoughtful and included an extra charm that didn't fit on the bracelet, so I plan on using it to make a necklace. Thank you so much zigg13pra!!!!! You made my first swap a fantastic experience!

8  Re: Mushroom House for my Hedgehog :) Pictures out the Wazoo... in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by notanotherxerox on: January 16, 2010 06:43:09 PM
That's super cute... You know, I've never seen a hedgehog. How big is it?
Sounds like a fun pet. Do you think he might be able to climb up the grid and escape?
Hedgehogs are usually not bigger than a softball when they roll into a ball, and usually around 5" long and 3" high when relaxed. Hedgies aren't exactly made for climbing with they're short little legs and round bodies but I always keep a screen lid on the cage to be safe. Heres a few pictures of my hedgehog, Finley, for those of you wondering what one looks like.

Can't wait to see your new little guy:)

9  Why are my stitches spiraling and turning out wavy? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by notanotherxerox on: January 04, 2010 01:55:18 PM
Hi! I just started knitting last week and I'm having the same problems everytime I pick up my needles again. First of all the stitches are spiraling around my needles like this:

When I straighten them and spread them apart a little bit I end up with a really wavy edge like this:

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I keep thinking that maybe I'm making it too tight because I had that problem when I started to crochet. I've tried seeing if I can make the stitches looser but its really hard. When I transfer a stitch from the left needle to the right its at the tip of the needle, which is smaller than the rest, I gently tighten the new stitch but somehow its still hard to push the stitch down the needle. In between every stitch I have to move the stitches up and down the needle a few times to get the latest one to loosen up.
Please help me! Thanks for your time:)

10  peacock out of clay? in Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions by notanotherxerox on: November 27, 2009 02:03:42 PM
Every year my mom and I give each other different bird ornamets t decorate our Christmas tree and this year I want to make her a peacock ornament, similar to this one:

I think the best medium would be polymer clay but I want to include real feathers if possible. I was thinking of making the body from clay and then using some small real peacock feathers for the tail. Do you think it would look weird to have them made from different things?  And other suggestions on how to do it?
Thanks for your time!
