31  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / recovering glider cushions on: June 26, 2008 08:29:54 AM
okay, i'm going to tackle recovering my ugly glider cushions. i'm planning to cut up an old ikea futon cover, which is a little thicker because it's got a thin padding...any suggestions???

here's a pic of the ugly chair now

32  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / a dress of firsts - updated with action shots! on: June 22, 2008 10:45:33 PM
this dress had a lot of firsts for me -- first time using bias tape (which i made so it'd match), first time doing the topstitch thingy at the bottom, first time making button holes...all in all, it's the first dress i've made from scratch! (i've done a cheytown recon and some capri pants before) anyway, here it is. the errors are glaring to me, but i still think it's cute! fabric is 1989 leftovers from grandmas storage building Wink i decided to knot the straps for a little detail...

i'll try to get an action shot tomorrow when the wee girl is awake Cheesy

33  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / small hallway bath redo :) on: June 20, 2008 12:51:03 PM
so our entire. house. was painted one of two shades of green (with "celery" trim) or smurf blue. as you can see, the hall bath was one of the shades of green. both bathrooms have those horrible shell-shaped pink countertops. ick, lol. so we changed it. finally!

34  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / twirler skirt pattern? on: June 18, 2008 08:08:10 PM
so i've seen a few "twirler" skirts on here, anyone have a pattern they could point me to? thanks! Cheesy
35  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / how to "finish" drawstring holes? on: June 18, 2008 07:07:25 PM
so i made some capris for dd, drawstring, but i never did anything with the holes the string goes through, they're just slits in the fabric. what's the best way to finish these? yes, should have done this before i basically finished the pants, but i forgot, lol! hand stitch them like buttonholes? grommets? leave em?
36  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / button up shirt dress and houndstooth wideleg capris :) on: June 17, 2008 05:47:07 PM
i don't have a pic of the shirt before, but it as a standard short sleeve button up shirt. this is the first dress i've made for dd, love it!

second, i whipped up a pair of wideleg capris for football season this fall. they're drawstring and i need to finish the string holes, but i thought they turned out well Smiley (a friend embroidered the top for me)

as always, would appreciate any comments or suggestions!
37  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / vera bradley-ish mei tai on: June 16, 2008 10:58:40 AM
inspired to post mine after seeing kimi's! Wink

i made this last fall with some fabric from my grandmother's storage building. someone mentioned it looked vaguely vera bradley like, lol. we cobbled together different free mei tai patterns, i lightly quilted the body, i have since decided the straps are a little long, but haven't done anything about it.

i love slings, lol! i also have two pouch slings, and i'm planning to make a moby wrap whenever we have #2 Smiley
38  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / houndstooth collar and leash :) on: June 04, 2008 07:25:12 PM
okay, so dh and i are huge bama fans, and we recently adopted a sweet little yorkie/shih tzu. we wanted to get a bama collar/leash set for her, but they were all crazy wide and looked silly since she's under 10 lbs. so i happened to have some houndstooth fabric i'm planning to make bloomers out of for my daughter, and figured i'd whip something up for the pup! i love it, bama pride without being obnoxious Wink

anyway, this is the first post i've made to the forum, any comments would be greatly appreciated! Smiley
