21  stocking for dd in Needlework: Completed Projects by faithsmama on: December 19, 2008 01:40:43 PM
disclaimer, i didn't make this, but my mom did! she did an AMAZING job, i just have to brag on her! she told me to pick out a pattern i liked for a stocking for dd, and when i picked this one i had no idea it was practically all beadwork (couldn't really tell from the picture). she stuck with it though and it's truly beautiful. so here it is!

she says our next kid isn't getting one like this, lol. can't say i blame her though!

23  halloween pumpkin recon ;) in Winter Holidays by faithsmama on: November 29, 2008 07:02:28 AM
so we put up all our christmas decor this past week, and while they looked out of place, the uncarved pumpkins on the porch were still good, felt wrong to throw them away. so some leftover white spray paint, epoxy buttons and scrap flannel later, we have the pumpkin snowman.

silly, but he makes me smile! Smiley

24  recent stuff. been a while, lol! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by faithsmama on: November 21, 2008 09:22:26 AM
yes, it's been a super long time since anything was posted, but i have reasons. i do. seriously. so busy. really. Wink

anyway, first up, appliqued big sis shirt and lil bro onesie for a friend who is having her little boy TODAY! so exciting! first real attempt at applique...

here's a couple of pairs of cord ruffle pants, one long, one cropped because our summer lasted obnoxiously into fall but i wanted something fallish for her to wear, lol. i love cords.

and since my BAMA football team is rocking the joint and is undefeated, i figured she needed a new BAMA outfit!

so yeah, nothing fancy, but it's what i've got Cheesy

25  Re: my (vastly inferior) version of vegbee's fair weather jacket -- now has BUTTONS! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by faithsmama on: September 25, 2008 06:10:11 PM
i went with fabric covered buttons, put butterflies in the center of the front ones, flowers for the back. i'm starting to kind of love this jacket, lol!

26  my (vastly inferior) version of vegbee's fair weather jacket -- now has BUTTONS! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by faithsmama on: September 22, 2008 01:40:38 PM

okay, many caveats. so the fabric is meh because it's made from a pair of old tab curtains (shell) and leftovers from grandma's 1980s stash (lining). i was afraid to use anything good because i figured i'd jack it up somehow. and i've never worked a pattern with this many pieces before, never attached pockets or sleeves or a hood (i started sewing in june). and major, major thanks so much for the help i received along the way with this (vegbee and threegirlsandaboy!), without it the jacket would have been embarrassingly unwearable, i'm sure!!

it's sans buttons right now because i don't have any big-ish ones in my stash. must go shopping...

without further adieu...

i'm def. going to attempt this one again with some better/heavier fabrics. the weight of this one is fall/springish...

27  faith's bff birthday dress EDIT: ACTION SHOTS in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by faithsmama on: September 14, 2008 09:57:38 PM
faith's little best friend had her 2nd bday today, so i put this little dress together for her. the waist ribbon actually wraps around twice, kinda hard to see in this pic, and i don't have an action shot yet because she's tee-niney compared to my chunk-a-munk. but she'll be over tomorrow, maybe then i'll get an action shot!

here it is on the birthday girl, sans tie. mama forgot it, lol! no worries though, i was just so glad it fit!

28  ladybug birthday jumper in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by faithsmama on: September 12, 2008 11:21:32 AM
okay, so dd's second birthday is at the end of october, theme is ladybug's picnic, and i happened to have this ladybug dot cord and buttons that i was planning to make into a jumper for her anyway....SO here it is. no pattern, just worked from a couple of dresses/jumpers she has already. she'll have one a white with pink rickrack trimmed shirt under it for the party. i'm trying to decide if it needs something else, a ruffle at the bottom perhaps? can't decide, so y'all help me out here. Smiley i'll post some action shots after the monkey wakes up from her nap...

and i included one of my fancy new ribbon labels, lol! i feel SO fancy...(it's a symbolized version of "love, faith handcrafted designs" (and ignore the loopy serged edges, still working out the kinks on that thing. it is, after all, a relic of the 1980s...and i only started sewing in june, so my skills are limited, lol)

(edited for jacked up first photo...)

29  i *puffy heart* vegbee's peasant tute! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by faithsmama on: August 31, 2008 03:36:17 PM
dd now has two shirts and a dress Smiley all fabric is from my grandma's stash circa the 1980s. dress has my first applique attempt, left the edges raw for fraying (and it was easier, lol!)

action shot of the dress

30  EDIT: redone top! vegbee peasant top and rickrack recon'd shorts in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by faithsmama on: August 28, 2008 04:07:01 PM
today was dd's first day of preschool, so i put this together for her last night using vegbee's peasant top tutorial for the top and a basic shorts pattern for the bottom. vegbee RAWKS, her tutorial is amazing, esp. for me having never done sleeves! the shorts i recon'd from an ugly old long skirt of mine and added rickrack. i also got to use my new (old-it was my grandmother's) serger and my new husqvarna sewing machine, so fun!

edited to ask: should i redo the neck elastic? it seems kinda snug lookin' in the pictures, but not as much so on her....

okay, redid it. it's still not super loose, but i like it lots better, and dd seems to too! ('scuse the red eye, didn't feel like editing it out Wink )
