1  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Avocado & Mozzarella salad on: August 17, 2010 05:36:41 PM
I just finished making something that was supposed to be like this salad. I was preparing to make the salad... The local corn was boiling, my lettuce leaves were waiting in the bowl with mozzarella and a chopped up avocado when... uhhhhh, my tomatoes aren't red anymore! Gross. Now what?

Israeli couscous! It was quite delicious. Especially, with a class of chardonnay. Wink I think next time I'll nix the avocado though. It throws off the texture of a salad with corn and Israeli couscous.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Dreamcatcher! on: August 14, 2010 09:41:51 PM
I made this dreamcatcher for a creative project last semester. The assignment topic was "imagining nature." I used hemp, two tulsi beads, and a stick I found outside my dorm.

The following pictures are direct links because they are little too big for a post. They also are poor quality because I am too lazy to create a good photo, haha. Please, check them out anyway.  Smiley

This is a close up of the two holy basil beads I used as the spiders. I wanted two spiders.  Smiley

3  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Tips on how to ripen avocados??? on: August 14, 2010 12:02:34 PM
I know this is late, but for future reference...  Wink Put the avocados next to bananas. Bananas make everything ripen up much faster. Conversely, store produce that you want to keep longer away from your bananas!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first project on a sewing machine! on: September 27, 2008 09:03:05 PM
Well, my grandma passed away about two years ago. My grandpa gave me her sewing machine earlier this week. I wish she was still around to teach me how to sew and see my finished projects!

Last year, I made my, at the time, significant other a velvet-lined hallowed-out book. Today, I used the rest of said fabric to make a scarf for myself using my grandma's sewing machine! I love it.  Cheesy

It's more of a "Christmas Red" than the pictures give it credit for. It measures four feet, ten inches in length.
