1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Some of my more recent pet portraits. on: May 01, 2014 09:41:55 PM
Thanks everybody!
The "N" stands for Naughley, the boxer. It was a commission.
Roux the pit was a gift, and was the first pet portrait I ever attempted. It's called "What's my mothuf***n name?"
Georgia is the last one posted. She was somewhat challenging for me because of her distinctive markings.
I have done quite a few more. I feel like my style is more illustrative than realistic, and my main objective is to capture the pets' personality.
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Some of my more recent pet portraits. on: April 05, 2014 10:38:33 AM
Here's some of the more recent pet portraits I've either given as gifts, or was commissioned to paint.

They are all acrylic on canvas. Sixes range from 8x10 to 18x22. Hope you like them!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Bullet Casings - Upcycled into necklace pendants! on: September 21, 2012 11:23:02 AM
Thanks everyone! I love craftster and was very upset about what happened on my blog. The person commented anonymously (imagine that). so I deleted it and then deleted my pics here, since it was the only place i have posted them. I'm glad you mods are on top of things, I think what hurt me the most, is that it is the first time I have created something on my own, without advice or tutorials. I was super happy to have something I could call my own signature item, and just wanted to share that. I have posted tutorials here before, (my faux fused glass- shrinky post has been read 9000+ times). It's just these were really special and I got my feelings hurt. I'll be okay, you can leave the thread up. And now I'm going to post something completely different for a birthday present I just finished! Thanks you guys!!!
I remember when craftster got their first 100,000 members! Guess with all that growth, some trolly biters have snuck in. I still love you guys! (My reaction might have been a little rash, I admit.)

I've deleted some of my pics. I have received a VERY negative message on my blog. I'm so sorry that some people cannot just appreciate my creations, without DEMANDING to know how I did it. For all of that have been positive, I do really appreciate it, and thank you for understanding. This has never happened to me before, and it hurts my heart that some trolls have infiltrated craftster.
If I had my way, I would delete the entire post. Sorry for being a downer, I was actually proud of my work and happy to share it; until I was attacked on my blog.

i love the skulls the most...do you sell these or are you just making them for fun? i was also wondering if you'd do a tutorial, if you don't sell them of course.

I have made a listing for the skulls at my blogspot store. The other designs will be listed in the upcoming days. They are a brand new creation, something I am considering my own signature item (I've not seen anything like them). Because I am currently unemployed, I'd like to keep the details to myself for now. After I've had a few events, made some sales, and established myself; I would definitely consider a tutorial. Stay tuned!! Thanks for understanding!

I really appreciate the comments and feedback! It took quite a bit of trial and error (and broken pieces) to get here!
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Bullet Casings - Upcycled into necklace pendants! on: September 18, 2012 10:34:41 AM
I've been making jewelry out of spent bullet casings this year. Most of them have been made with the casing intact. I've recently expanded my ideas and designs into incorporating hand sculpting into each casing.

I started off with skulls.

As always, comments and critiques appreciated!

I"ve been making new necklaces with chain and metal components. These are all in a bird theme, with many of them containing owls!

8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Uncle Lionel Memorial Print on: July 18, 2012 02:47:48 PM
On July 8, 2012; the world lost a New Orleans legend. Lionel Batiste, "Uncle Lionel". as he was known. I created this reduction style block print as a memorial. The image is 8 x 10 printed on 9 x 12 mulberry paper.

this is the first pass, a background gradient.

The second pass.

The third and final pass.

Final product.

From wikipedia, "Uncle" Lionel Batiste (February 1, 1931 – July 8, 2012) was a jazz and blues musician and singer from New Orleans. He began his music career at the age of 11 playing bass drum with the Square Deal Social & Pleasure Club. He was the bass drummer, vocalist and assistant leader of the Treme Brass Band; known for his kazoo playing and singing as well, and has recorded a cd as a vocalist.

This is my second attempt at the reduction method. My first was Jammaster Jay, you can find a thread for that one on craftster as well.
Comment and critiques appreciated.

Thanks everyone! This is the first time I actually shopped for pieces within a theme, instead of just using what I had around. Mostly because these pieces are a new style for me. I really appreciate the feedback!!

I've been inspired by "Game of Thrones". Here's a couple of pieces I made.
