2  Bullet Casings - Upcycled into necklace pendants! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by punkRockPaperScissors on: September 18, 2012 10:34:41 AM
I've been making jewelry out of spent bullet casings this year. Most of them have been made with the casing intact. I've recently expanded my ideas and designs into incorporating hand sculpting into each casing.

I started off with skulls.

As always, comments and critiques appreciated!

4  Uncle Lionel Memorial Print in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by punkRockPaperScissors on: July 18, 2012 02:47:48 PM
On July 8, 2012; the world lost a New Orleans legend. Lionel Batiste, "Uncle Lionel". as he was known. I created this reduction style block print as a memorial. The image is 8 x 10 printed on 9 x 12 mulberry paper.

this is the first pass, a background gradient.

The second pass.

The third and final pass.

Final product.

From wikipedia, "Uncle" Lionel Batiste (February 1, 1931 – July 8, 2012) was a jazz and blues musician and singer from New Orleans. He began his music career at the age of 11 playing bass drum with the Square Deal Social & Pleasure Club. He was the bass drummer, vocalist and assistant leader of the Treme Brass Band; known for his kazoo playing and singing as well, and has recorded a cd as a vocalist.

This is my second attempt at the reduction method. My first was Jammaster Jay, you can find a thread for that one on craftster as well.
Comment and critiques appreciated.

6  First Time Tinning in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by punkRockPaperScissors on: May 15, 2012 12:54:46 PM
I made these two pendants today, trying the tinning process for the first time. The one on the left is a temporary tattoo on manga paper and the one on the right is a photo I took of a huge sculpture in Dallas.

Here's a better pic of my photo. I call it Walking On Sunshine.

comments always appreciated!

10  Joey Ramone RIP linocut.. in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by punkRockPaperScissors on: November 08, 2008 09:18:07 AM
So I have always loved The Ramones, and have for most of this year, crafted Joey in many mediums.
So, continuing my hero worship, here is Joey in linocut.
The lino is 9 x 12, These are my first preliminary prints, I think I'm going to experiment with two-color printing with the same block and print them on larger size paper.
